Tables are quite close together so don\'t plan on having privacy in your conversation. The first time we ate at the bar and were... waited on by Justin, excellent service, he was helpful, friendly, just fantastic all the way around. We had the warm butteredbuns which were to die for! They came with homemade honey butter with a sprinkle of maldon salt on top. Soft, warm anddelicious! The honey butter was so rich and creamy.. highly recommended. My friend had the mushrooms which he said were spicyand good. The Oklahoma smashburger was pretty good. The smoked half chicken with Alabama white bbq was also good, the chickenwas very moist and tender, and the sauce on it was really good and had a unique flavor. The grits were decent, kind of tastedlike popcorn, texture was soft. The pecan pie was not great. I thought the pecan pie from Wegmans was better. The key lime piewas absolutely delicious. The roasted potatoes were super tender and flavorful with a nice char on the skin, delicious. Thehomemade pot pie with root vegetables was also really good. They don\'t have salt and pepper on the tables, which I always findarrogant. But the service is great, nice dim lighting, great classic rock music, and the takeout containers are paper, notplastic. The warm buttered buns are enough to keep us coming back here on their own! Read more

Absolutely incredible meal. I went with my spouse and a friend, and we loved it from first bite to last. My wife and I were... early for our reservation so we sat at the bar and had a couple of amazing drinks before our friend arrived. We got the oysters, which were fantastic and perfectly accompanied by the hot sauce and grated horseradish (the mignonette was great but not reallymy bag), followed by the mac and cheese (handily among the best in Buffalo), burnt ends (luscious, melt in your mouth perfectlyrendered crispy pork belly) and the \"good life,\" which included among other things perfectly poached shrimp the size of thepalm of my hand. We split the barbecued chicken (that sauce was FIRE) and the bananas foster for dessert, which was both thebest of its kind I have had and large enough that the three of us shared it and weren\'t able to finish. Can’t say enough good things about Compass Run! Had dinner there recently and, while I fully expected it to be good, it still... exceeded all expectations. The menu is this great mix of bright, fresh seafood, with other more traditional southern dishes thatleaves a nice range for those who want to eat healthy (and those who don’t).\n\nService is incredible, the space is beautiful, and they have a sneakily great bourbon selection behind the bar. Can’t wait to go back! Read more

I went for a dinner event and was able to try quite a few items on the menu. I’ll start with the appetizers first. We had warm... buns, hot Boudin balls, and the Roasted poblano mac & cheese. All were yummy for what they were. Really enjoyed the Mac andcheese.\n\nFor my main entrée, I had the Captain\'s Platter with catfish and shrimp. Loved the cornmeal breading and the bestcatfish I\'ve had since moving to Buffalo since being back in Texas.\n\nDrink-wise, I had a Siskey Wowa which was bourbon, eggwhite, and some seasonal citrus mixed together into a bit of a slushy. It was tasty and I\'d try it again, but they had plentyof other drinks I\'ve liked to check out as well.\n\nlastly I got a slice of bourbon pecan pie for dessert. As much as I lovepecan pie, I always forget that I don’t like that fusion with bourbon versus just a regular piece so it was just okay to me. Read more

Every course was prepared with care and attention to detail. The fresh seafood, oysters specifically, were amazing. Believe it... or not, they quietly make one of the best burgers I’ve ever had in Buffalo. Definitely get the fresh buttered buns too. Read more

This place is absolutely amazing. Took a friend here from out of town and they were highly impressed. We ordered the daily veg,... char broiled oysters, boudin balls and the pork belly burnt ends. The pork belly melted right in your mouth, each bite moresavory than the last. The slow poached lobster was so fresh and tender. The service was exceptional. I will absolutely be backhere. Bonus were so savory, many options to choose from for all different palates Read more

Great selection of fresh seafood, raw oysters, and some real treats like the BBQ burnt ends. This place is great to have a... tapas - style meal with where you can sample many items from across the small plates, appetizers, and side dishes sections ofthe menu and leave feeling stuffed. Read more

What a fantastic experience! It\'s not everyday you find a diamond, and this is a true diamond. Spectacular service. My friends... and I reserved seats at the bar. But where do I start! The whiskey selection was/is put together for royalty. And it had someheavy allocations like Blood Oath, Eagle Rare, and Old RIP Van Winkle, Weller, and much more! That was only 1/10 of theBourbon/whiskey selection. Justin (Devo) who was managing the bar introduced us to an entire selection of drinks!\n\nLet\'s jumpto the food!!!!! The burnt pork ends, the Mac and cheese you could add lobster, the steak with the sauce that was made in housethat you could aslo add a lobster tail, and the mushroom appetizer are all must tries! Sorry that there are no pictures of thetongue tantalizing food. We ate everything so fast because it was so delicious. It\'s as if we have to get the pictures as theyare moving it all from the stove top to the plate because it was devoured so fast. Oh, and the hot sesame buns, or hot buns, punintended.\n\nGet lost and find yourself at Compass Run. They\'ll take care of you. Read more
