Came to Max's for dinner with my mom on a Tuesday evening. It was fairly crowded so we sat outside (amazing weather for SF so... it was lovely). The chairs aren't very comfortable at the outside tables. Service was fine, but the wine list wasdisappointingly limited with few California options. The food was just okay as well. We had crab cakes, pork sliders and onionrings and while all were edible, nothing stood out as impressive. For the cost, I don't think we would return, especially sincethis was a meal out on a trip. I do note that the restaurant is walking distance from our hotel which was how we ended up there,but in the future I would go a bit farther for something better. Read more
They still have outside seating which is sheltered from the elements. The interior could use some updating. There is plexiglass... that separates the booths some of which were dirty with fingerprints and food smears. The server was polite and attentive. Foodcame within a reasonable time. The pear and walnut salad was certainly plentiful and the dressing was pretty good. Maxsdoesn’t open until 11AM so not much for breakfast. Read more
When wanting the best comfort food Max's is where to go. My particular favorite is Grandma’s Honey Roasted Chicken with mixed... vegetables (Roasted Brussel sprouts and onions) and potatoes. This place is amazing. Great food and ambiance and our waitress, Nicole was the best. This place has history as it has been... operating since 1978. Very convenient location as it was just steps away from our hotel, Holiday Inn Express. I absolutelyrecommend this place to dine in,dine out, or just have a drink and a friendly smile Read more

Came in just for desert one day. The brownie with a scoop of ice cream was so delicious. I definitely recommend trying this... place. This is definitely somewhere the locals come frequently by what I saw. Read more
The food taste is good, although pricy. The steak is so good with good size, tender and juicy. Other food we ordered is pasta... which is good as well. There is a special menu every Thursday. Have a spacious parking lot Read more
