Service is solid here but the food really has gone downhill since we were here (not much flavour, messily rolled sushi, etc.)... and of course more expensive. Our takeout experience was similarly lackluster. Read more

We enjoyed our dinner and sake very much. The food is good, the building is a lovely old converted mansion with beautiful... stained glass details as while the service is fairly attentive. I was happily surprised at the size of my BC roll. It's HUGE,fresh and yummy. Yaki Soba and Yaki Udon dishes were flavourful. Chicken teriyaki on rice was cooked well, gyoza and tempuraprawns were fresh and hot. There are some menu items for someone needing gluten-free dishes which was great. The building isn'taccessible for those with mobility issues. There are no ramps, lots of steep steps to walk up and no elevator that we couldfind. The meals main meals didn't come out at the same time so some we're almost finished before others had started. Read more

I've loved Oyama for a long time, but tonight I was utterly disappointed. Their standard of food quality has gone down hill over... the past couple years. Sadly, after ordering take out, I had to throw most of it out. That was a waste of over priced sushi. Thetempura prawns did not taste right, mealy, the shrimp was grey under the batter, not to say it was undercooked, but maybe theshrimp was over cooked or just started to go bad. The quality of the sound trap roll too was disgusting. Read more

Their salmon sashimi is better than most japanese restaurants. The staff were also attentive and fast. I'd visit again.

Sushi Oyama is amazing! The location is beautiful in an old heritage home and the sushi is super fresh and delicious. It is on... the more expensive side, but you?re paying for good quality and big portions. The Maki Tray is the best bang for your buck, aspictured here you get so much food for a great price for two people! Highly recommend coming here! Read more

My go-to place for sushi in this area ???? been here with friends and family several times! The restaurant is in a heritage... house which gives it a lovely setting. Seems fancy and classic from the outside, but the food and price are just as good as moststandard sushi places in the Lower Mainland! They have a HUGE extensive menu. It always takes a long time to decide what toorder. Standard COVID practices are still in place. I saw some reviews complain about the paper cups, but I think it's a prettysmart idea as it is probably the dishware that is easiest to transfer oral bacteria (not including chopsticks, which are alreadythe disposable type). Though the dishes aren't incredibly impressive, they are still very satisfying. I always come back for theunique heritage home dining experience. Also, there is a dessert shop conveniently right underneath the restaurant, as well asmany other dessert options nearby. Read more
