Hush puppies were excellent, a good start. Enjoyed the food, fried shrimp and deviled crab were above average, fried flounder... could use more seasoning in the breading, sides were good, string beans were from a can but tasty. French fries were limp andwarm but asked for a replacement which were good. Sat outside, nice view but I felt like I was in the "Birds" movie. Restroomabout average, paper towels on floor. So good (and so fried!), so fresh, and so authentic. You can literally sit outside right in front of the shrimp boat that brings... them into the restaurant—you simply can’t get fresher than that. Great atmosphere outside, very reasonable prices, and thefree hush puppies upon seating was a very nice surprise. There are lots of birds around (which you would expect at an outdoorseafood restaurant on the water), but they don’t bother you, and it’s all very clean, with no bird poop anywhere. Greatservice too. Friendly service and fast too. I’d say there’s not anything super special about the food but it was your normal seafood... place. Decent size portions that will fill you up! We only had fried at our table so unsure about the other options. Read more
I LOVE Captain Nance's! The BEST Calabash Seafood of them ALL! I live about 45 min away in Murrells Inlet SC ( The Seafood... Capital of South Carolina ) So I know Seafood and have so many options with-in 3 miles of my house but when I want my CalabashShrimp and Clam Strips I head to Calabash! I have been eating Captain Nance's at lest half of not most of my life. Calabash NChas many options but Captain Nance's is always PERFECT! Has been PERFECT every time all the time! I order shrimp and clam stripsand the slaw is the best slaw I have ever had. Just typing this review makes me want to drive up again for lunch. Friedseafood does not get any better. I find when I am served this food its always served right out of the fryer and hot, hot, hot,unlike any other places. The BBQ was tasty too the last time I visited! Definitely, try to dine outside. They keep the dining room so cold that it could easily be used as the county morgue. I... ordered the peel and eat shrimp. Didn't have a lot of flavor as shrimp I ate there in the past. I guess it was frozen, notfresh. The service was great. Read more
Great view, excellent outdoor patio. Get the fish broiled, it's delicious and fresh. Waitress was friendly. I'm local and do... recommend this restaurant. My only constructive criticism is the greeting upon entering the restaurant. The hostesses wereseated, talking and, on their phones. Not a warm welcome for customers.
