The food was disappointing. The crab dip was average but a little too salty. My husband said his peel and eat shrimp were... slightly underdone. The restaurant was out of oysters on the 1/2 shell so I got broiled oysters instead, which were okay. I alsogo "oyster stew" which was basically warm oysters in a bowl of thin milk. It didn't resemble a stew in any way! I removed theoysters and dipped them in cocktail sauce. The hostess was prompt and made sure that our waitress had greeted us. Our waitresswas pleasant but never cleared our plates, and presented our check without asking us if we wanted anything else! We're localsand won't return. We had dinner at Oyster Rock in June and next time we want seafood we'll go there again, as it is worth thelittle bit of extra money. Read more

Nice atmosphere and efficient wait staff. Our drinks and a basket of little hush puppies arrived quickly. But our meals were... disappointing. I ordered the NY Strip steak and shrimp combo. I expected to get 3-4 good sized broiled shrimp. What I got wasa sauce dish of cocktail shrimp that had barely seen the broiler and zero seasoning. The steak was cooked as I asked. Myhusband ordered just a steak. It had a wide strip of fat and gristle. Our friends both had fish. They weren't impressed withtheir dinners or drinks either. We all had fond memories of this restaurant from a visit several years ago. This time not somuch. Read more

I have been coming to Dockside Seafood Restaurant in Calabash, NC since I was a teenager. We considered going to the Calabash... style seafood buffets but so glad we came here. Their food is great. Lightly breaded and fried or you can get broiled as well. My flounder and deviled crab is great as are their hush puppies. Going to Dockside is a tradition that is part of ourvacation. Thanks to the Price family for serving great food all these years. Read more

My family and I (group of 7 people) visited the restaurant last Thursday evening around 6pm. The menu did not have a good... variety of choices to start with. We ordered crab dip for an appetizer. It came and was not even warm and tasted, well, reallyhad no taste. We ordered and got our food which was not much better. Our baked potatoes were not even hot enough to melt thebutter. Overall experience was not good. We will not be back to that restaurant in Calabash NC. Read more

the thing with these calabash restaurants....they are what you call a tourist trap but not totally in that sense. in the summer... time, these places get swamped with vacationers saying "oh we went to eat seafood". I don't put too much emphasis on which one Igo to. I prefer to buy fresh seafood and cook it my way though I do enjoy going out for fried fish every now and then. Theseplaces are just worried about getting people in and out as quick as they can and quality is not at their forefront. Eat and beyour own critic. Read more
