Great wraps. The donair is on point and the shawarma is amazing too. Beware of the large unless you are a total animal, it is a... massive amount of food for the price. I stop in frequently and will continue to do so. Update: Under the new ownership the foodis still amazing but the warning about the large is gone. The sizes are what you would reasonably expect. I came by to see the new changes under the new ownership. The new manager seemes like a hardworking type of guy, prices have... gone up a little but they do still give generous portions. I've always been a rice platter type of guy. Some new changes Inoticed are no more yellow rice, but the white rice is quite good and looks to be some noodles with the rice. They also giveless rice but more potatoes. This is a huge plus for me since I love the potatoes. Overall, I'd still come back here again sincethe amount of food is quite large and can fill me up well for 2 meals. Read more

Avesta donair has taken over the location that was once ORIGINAL DONAIR in Silverado in SW of Calgary very recently and I can... tell you right now that you better step up your game because you have some massive shoes to fill! So far after ordering from youon Friday. We are NOT IMPRESSED with the quantity, quality or service! So disappointed! My husband and I have been going tooriginal donair since they opened a few years ago. We went Friday for the Large Donair & Garlic Potatoes like we always didbecause we know we are going to get our money's worth as well as being able to make it last a couple of meals (as the donairsare so massive). Upon arrival, we did not notice whether they had new signage and initially didn't see anything different. Thenthey started making our donairs. Right away my husband corrected them on the size we ordered as he thought they made a mistake."Opps, We ordered large" he said. They responded by saying "We don't make the big ones anymore ". When we asked why, they didnot respond and simply gave us a dirty look. My husband then asked if the price is still the same. They did not respond. Then wenoticed that the potatoes were not the same. Upon paying and expressing our disappointment, we noticed the payment system had anentirely different name on it and realized then that this was not even original donair anymore. (We should of figured that outbecause the owner that it usually there, wasn't. And he is always there) So we asked them, "Are there new owners"? To whichthey replied yes. Not sure why they wouldn't just tell us that in the first place. So after leaving utterly disappointed thatnot only did we not get our money's worth but the deception of leaving such a detail out unless asked as well as realizing thatthe potatoes were terrible and the donairs very average. It's pretty safe to assume we will not be returning again. So sad thisonce epic place is now just a run of the mill donair joint. Nothing special at all. Read more

Well worth the visit. My sandwich weighed more than my newborn child. Im serious. It was like 16-18" in length, filled with... meaty delicious goodness. Great local shwarma and donair restaurant. Good prices made better by the generous portions. My family loves the wraps and the... mixed plates. Fantastic falafel and the best garlic potatoes in town (sorry Jerusalem Shwarma). Service is a bit slow, but theowner makes up for it in friendliness. Highly recommend. Read more
