This place has good pub food, or just good food when your buzzing.
My partner and I just moved from Vancouver and tried this place because it was close and we were exhausted from moving... Fast... forward and we've been I think 5 or 6 times in the last 10 days? The food is GREAT (try the beef dip!) and all the servers wehave had have been super friendly. We even tried the slots in the back for fun and won 40 bucks! Read more
The hearty beef stew was really delicious. Restaurant atmosphere is really cool and makes you feel like you're eating in... Scotland. Our waitress was a bit curt, but otherwise we enjoyed our experience. Read more
I visited Scotsman's well for dinner on August 6th, part of a group of 3 couples. We are all in our fifties and enjoy the... occasional night out together as a group. I am a non-drinker (the only one in the group) and although they only had one varietyof non-alcoholic beer, it is a pretty good one. Our waitress was prompt and friendly, the service was very good. Some of ourgroup had cocktails which they found quite good. For dinner, I had the daily special, a striploin with mashed potatoes andvegetables. Unfortunately, it was not very good. The steak was overcooked (that happens sometimes, it is not a steakhouse afterall) but the quality and flavor of the meat wasn't good. The price was very reasonable but I would have rather paid more for abetter quality steak. The flavor of the mashed potatoes was also quite poor, the side of vegetables was just okay. My wifeordered the steak sandwich and her steak was undercooked; again the meat wasn't very tasty. The waitress gave my wife a discounton her meal which was very kind and very good service. One of our party had a meat lovers pizza which he quite enjoyed. This isthe second meal that I have eaten at this restaurant and haven't liked either one. I couldn't recommend Scotsman's Well toanyone for the food but if you are going consider sticking to a burger, pizza, or nachos that it would be fine. Scotsman's Well is a staple of North Calgary, still going strong after all these years. The staff is polite, professional and... attentive. We came here for my friend's birthday and had reserved a table ahead of time. The pub forgot to hold a table butthey were quick to open up a closed section for our group. The food is always good and there are some daily food and drinkspecials to choose from. Read more
Came for the waffle fries but the beef dip was yummy as well. I?d go elsewhere for wings but they are only $6/lb on Wednesdays.... They have a huge menu so I would definitely go back to try other tasty looking items. Read more
Really spacious well laid out Irish pub. I would highly recommend the nachos - its well layered and topped properly without... being overcooked. Finding a good nacho spot in Calgary can be tough. Came in for lunch for the first time and was very happy we did! Service was fast, food was amazing, and we tried the cider mixed... with beer (can't remember what it was called now!) everything was delicious. Will definitely be a returning customer Read more
