Reviews for Carmelitas in Calumet, MI
We visited twice at lunchtime. Both times we were very happy with the food. My wife had the guacamole salad (with chicken) the... first time, the Chicken and cheese quesadilla the second. Both were excellent. I had the Carne enchilada (chicken) followed bythe Spicy pork burrito. Both were fantastic, spicy, but not too spicy, with great flavor. The rice and beans were a step up frommost restaurants. The waitstaff were friendly and competent, the ambience nice without being overwhelming. And the prices weresolidly reasonable for the quantity of food. All in all, an excellent choice of restaurants when in Calumet. Read more
Beautiful restaurant, comfortable and cozy. Great Thimble Berry Margarita. Service was good. Food was a huge let down. I've... tried this place several times over the last several years and the Mexican/Southwest dishes are always very bland, lackseasoning. The chips are not fresh and taste like stale store bought chips. Salsa was good. Read more
Carmelita's has the best staff and great food. The make a delicious house margarita that goes down way too easy! They also do... thimbleberry drinks, yum! Sammie, the owner, is super friendly and fun to chat with. I recommend any of the fajitas, tacos, orenchiladas! I prefer steak as my meat with those dishes. Enjoy! Read more
Thimbleberry margaritas, lovely food and the owners are incredibly nice and helpful. An absolute gem in the U.P!
Asked for cilantro on my tacos and they gave me a strange cilantro aioli instead. If you?re from the Chicago area avoid. Edit:... honestly this was so bad I would fist fight the owners of this establishment. Read more
My son and I both had the tacos with regular taco meat. I wasn't impressed. Corn tortillas fell right apart and the meat was... very bland. The chips also tasted like they were store bought and straight out of a bag. The beans and rice were about whatyou'd expect in a cafeteria. The table service was good but we did have to wait for quite a bit before we were evenacknowledged and then wait to be seated while they looked relatively slow. I'll be back to give them another try though sowatch for an updated review. Read more
Fantastic find on the way to Copper Harbor area. We ordered a veggie delight burrito and a chimichanga, the chips and salsa for... $2 and just had water though their margaritas looked great. The water was served in these blue stemless wine shaped glasseswhich I thought was neat. The food was great and we both enjoyed the sauce. They also have a plethora of hot sauces displayed ona whiskey barrel which girl loves her hot sauces! Read more
Gorgeous, historic building. Thimbleberry margarita is life-changing. This a Southwestern restaurant, NOT Mexican. But delicious... nonetheless! Worth the stop! Read more
