Not great and not quite good. Service was reluctant. And when it did occur, food was brought out before dishes from previous... orders were cleared. My “local” quail appeared as if it was scraped off the bottom of someone’s shoe. It was dried,flattened, and any appeal long gone. The sea scallops were not like the ones pictured in the photographs taken by others. It’sas if the staff on duty was stretching the ingredients they did use, and was out of the rest. If a black cat is a sign of badluck, you’ll find it here. If a place wants to remain in business, it should at least try. Slipshod construction of thepremises and dining area does not make a place quaint, rustic or casual. It’s just slipshod, making one wonder what kind ofcare went into the food. Brussels Sprouts with a pink sauce, pecans and feta. It like Ike’s awful and tasted awful. A rib-eye steak - delicious The... stuffed pork chop was covered in greens. Horrible taste and presentation. A restaurant that perhaps is trying too hard. While the seared tuna was delicious albeit super raw, the polenta was a confusing... mess of an entree. It didn't seem to know what it wanted to be. Not a place to celebrate a birthday as no appropriate dessertsfor one on a special diet were available. Read more
I visited Black Cat Bistro on 5/2/22 during a road trip on PCH from Los Angeles County. I had visited a few years ago for a... light lunch and wine. On this occasion, I had the ribeye steak and a Cabarnet. The service was excellent. The ambiance feltrelaxing with dimly lit lighting and a fireplace. I highly recommend Black Cat Bistro. Great place for a nice, adult dinner out. We reserved our table ahead of time so we didn't wait at all. The service was really... good. My fiancé wasn't sure which wine to order because there were so many but our server was really helpful and gave him a fewoptions to try. We got the Brussel sprouts and quail appetizers and they were both so good. I ordered the ribeye steak and hegot the lamb shank. This was the best steak I have ever had, tender with some good searing and amazing flavor. He really likedthe lamb, it was falling off the bone with a great sauce on top. I would definitely recommend this place but not if you havekids with you. Honestly toward the end someone brought their crying kid in and that was kind of annoying since the place issmall. Read more
