We love the Sea Chest, and it exceeded all of my expectations! We had a couple of drinks in the lounge while we waited to be... seated. We had no idea of what to expect. Finally, we were seated at the kitchen counter, which was incredible! The kitchenstaff was engaged with us the entire time, taking our orders and working at breakneck speed. It's a very impressiveoperation. The Sea Chest has an old-school vibe and everyone working there seems to love and know what they're doing. Our foodwas spectacular. I had Andy's Cioppino, and it was excellent. Our experience there was unique, it was one of the most memorableevents of our trip to Cambria, and I consider The Sea Chest a "must do" if you're staying in the area. Read more
Would give more stars if I could! Arrived close to closing time, and were still treated with amazing service and hospitality.... Served drinks while we waited. The entire staff was very friendly and helpful. Awesome service and teamwork. The food was great,also! Everything we had was delicious! Have never had so much seafood in a pasta! Read more
Such a cute and cozy place! It’s very small and the wait time is around one hour. The food was amazing! We loved the East... Coast Oyster the most! The calamari stripes and the big platter of seafood marinara. We didn’t like the chowder nor the clampasta! Also they only accept CASH which is not on favor of everyone. Read more
The location and the view are gorgeous, and the server was really nice and attentive, the side salad was good with some... interesting touches. For the main course I had a fresh sea bass, which tasted really blant and watery. It definitely has beenpreviously frozen, despite my server reassuring me it was fresh, or maybe the cook has just completely ruined it. The place iscash only, and I believe it should be written in big bold letters, not as a fine print at the very bottom of the menu, it wasnot an issue for myself, but I assume in 2022 some visitors may have this catch them by a surprise. Also, their pricing does notreflect the quality, which is lacking big time. PS. The aftertaste chased me for the rest of the night, made me sick even thoughI love fish and seafood. Pass by this place if you're traveling CA-1, do yourself a favor and stop in San Simeon for a dinner. Read more
We were looking for a place with oysters while vacationing in Cambria. They open at 5:30 and encountered a line when we got... there (I think for those looking for tables by the windows) although we got a table right away as did most everyone behind us.Cash only which is unusual but they do have an ATM. Prices might be on the high side but West coast oysters, clam linguini andcalamari steak and carrot cake were all quite good. Would definitely recommend, especially at sunset. Read more
Great service and delicious food. Hey there early and you'll get a fascistic view. If you're first in the door at 5:30 you get a... special treat. Cash only and there's limited seating, no reservations, do you come early and bring your own happy hour while youwait in line. Read more
Waited an hour to get seated, but the waiting area with the trivial pursuit and drinks made the wait go pretty quickly. Was... excited to try the place, but was disappointed in the food. However, the staff and the service was incredible and made you feelwelcome. The ciopinno was decent, but the sea bass we ordered was incredibly over cooked. I was so disappointed since it wasactually the first time I’ve ever had dry sea bass. The oysters casino was nice because of the bacon, but some pieces werehard to eat because some of the oyster shell got into a bite to make it gritty. Atmosphere was a 10. Bring cash. Read more
Wonderful place for dinner here in Cambria Ca. Started off with a Bowl of Chowder and some Devils on Horseback Oysters. Entrees... tonight were Seafood Marinera and Scampi a la Sea Chest. What a magnificent experience we had at the Sea Chest on MoonstoneBeach! I definitely recommend this place. Read more
