Good taste, fair quantity. Haven?t seen that many places that serves good Indian food, when they say it?s ?Indian food?

Grain of Salt is a wonderful restaurant with friendly staff and delicious food. The food is a little overpriced though. I... recommend dining in instead of taking out because their naans/rotis will become cold and rubbery which makes it taste bad. Whendining in, the food is piping hot, and splendid! I do not recommend the Vegetable Vindaloo, it is extremely spicy. The MalaiKofta is amazing, mild in spice, and goes well with all the breads/rices. All the side dishes come with an option of either rotior rice so don't order too much! As you can see, we ordered a Daal Makhani, Malai Kofta, with which we ordered an Onion Kulchaand a Plain Naan. Other than that, we ordered a Vegetable Biryani which came with Raita. The ambience is nice and thecleanliness is okay. The main restaurant is clean and so are the plates, cutlery and dishes in which your food is being served.However the glasses/cups are sometimes dirty. The bathrooms could be neater. For example, in the women?s bathroom, there is nohand wash. The walls are full of scratches, and the garbage bin is right in between the toilet and the sink. It is quite crampedand the garbage bin is always overflowing with paper towels, which are sometimes on the toilet and in the sink. The staff isvery nice, helpful and friendly. If you have children, then they can just ask the staff for a lollipop and they'll give one tothem for free and of their chosen flavor, only if you are dining in. In conclusion, Grain of Salt is a nice restaurant thatdeserves 3 stars. Enjoy your experience there! Read more

I ordered chicken pakora and it?s literally flat in taste, taste is like you are having fried chickpeas flour. I dont have any... idea about other items in the restaurant but chicken pakora is a big no. Please remove it from your menu Read more

My family and I have enjoyed the hospitality of the staff at the Grain of Salt for over 10 years. I was quite impressed with... their cuisine (authentically Indian) at our initial visit and that has continued consistently over the years. The chef has foundthe thin line of the spiciness to salve the north-American taste buds without compromising the cuisine's heritage. The staff arecourteous and will go far to serve the customers. Service is acceptably prompt, complete and attentive. Highly recommended. Wewere there last evening and true to the core left really satisfied. Read more

Me and my friends were out for game it was about the time to Restaurant close and they didn't just let us... in last moment they served us best, Including amazing recommendations about dishes to try. Another classic Indian restaurant in Cambridge serving amazing dishes with ginormous portions to suit all taste buds. No... excessive oil, no harsh flavours, just good old fancy Indian food with no-shenanigans in service. Don?tget swayed away by menuprices, the portions justify the prices completely and if you are the only one dining in or ordering out, the taste would makethe price worth. Have been coming to this Indian restaurant for ages. This was one of the oldest Indian restaurants in the KWC area with the most... authentic tasting Indian food. Although there are a lot of Indian places close to Kitchener area now, I sometimes would still goall the way to Cambridge to eat at this place. I love their Lunch Special Thali (very budget-friendly) where you get to choosethe ?main? curry and it comes along with some standard items in the plate. I have tried all of their non-vegetarian/seafoodcurries at some point and they all taste great but I wish they would marinate their chicken to make it as flavourful as thecurry. Regardless, love the food here and will keep coming back for it. We also tried their Grain of Salt Special which is acombination platter of their tandoor appetizers. As always, the food is great. Had 1 negative take-out experience though - Theyonce gave us Paneer instead of requested Chicken item but we found this when we got home. We called the restaurant and insteadof being apologetic about their mistake or trying to make it right, they asked me to come next time to adjust the $2 difference.I?ve come across a lot of different restaurants who would go an extra mile to correct a mistake like this but the managementhere doesn?t care too much on that front.
