Exceptional as usual. Always a step above the competition and it all comes down to the details...the service..the management.... Years ago, trip advisor had them listed as 2 or 3 in fine dining in Cape May and now they're number 1...and for a reason. We had an excellent dinner this week to celebrate my wife’s birthday! Cocktails and food were delicious! Nice ambience, good... background music. You could tell they were a bit understaffed considering the number of guests in the restaurant, but everyonetried their best. Read more
Second time visiting here. Interestingly enough we were seated in the exact table we sat at years ago. Megan was our server... and she was great. Highlights were the desserts with the banana fosters and the peach cobbler. Crab cakes were also very good. The shrimp cocktail was over cooked, so a little chewy. The cavatelli with lamb was good but not spectacular. Overall, thisis traditional food prepared and presented well in a comfy setting with excellent service! Read more
The Washington inn is our favorite place to eat in Cape May. Every year the food is perfect. This year we got the escargot... appetizer which was phenomenal. I got the halibut special for dinner which was as fresh as can be. My wife got the crab cakeswhich are to die for. Topped it off with a bottle of iron horse sparkling wine suggested by the sommelier which was spot on. Ayearly trip that we always look forward to and truthfully have never had a bad meal at. I have been going to this restaurant every year for almost 20 years. I go through the correct reservation protocol that they ask... for. They tell me they can take me only at 5:00. I say “great”. I invite the rest of my party and then the next day theycall and cancel me! Why? Doesn’t seem right and quite honestly it was embarrassing to uninvited my guests. I think theyshould make this right. They didn’t even offer me another day. I am extremely disappointed. Read more
This is by far one of the best fine dining experiences in Cape May. I can’t quite pin point it, because it could be the chef... and the staff or the management but something special is happening here. If you want to take your special someone out for aromantic dinner or you want impress your family for a special occasion, this is the best fine dinning restaurant by far. Ask tobe seated in the sliver room by the window with the bamboo view and you will be amazed. The short rib was mouthwatering and thebranzino was fresh and delicious. All dishes down to the deserts were executed with detailed perfect and masterful culinaryexpertise.
