Two words: Food poisioning. I should have known when all the food tasted disgusting.
I have gone to this restaurant for a solid 15yrs. They watched my son grow up. I’ve known the ladies and they’ve always been... kind and polite. Their food has the best flavor and is absolutely delicious. It’s sad I don’t live in the area anymore but Icompare all Chinese food to Mayflower. My top picks are: Chinese chicken salad, sesame chicken, broccoli beef, and walnutshrimp. I crave their food! If you have a hankering for Chinese food this is definitely the spot to go. Tried the chicken chow mein and Kun pow chicken. Food was good and the restaurant was clean. I had a very pleasant experience.
Food is delicious. The workers are super nice and always happy to see us.
Very disappointing customer service. The two ladies infront were so crumpy and unfriendly. They didn't even greet their... customer, no smile or friendliness on their faces. If you ask additional utensils or extra bowls they make faces and say thingsin their language, which you can clearly feel that it's something not nice. Lost my apatite and didn't even finish my food. Myself and a friend decided to have an early dinner on 12-26-21 at the Mayflower. I used to live here in Capitola and was a... regular at the restaurant! I was back for a visit and couldn't wait to revisit the Mayflower, one of my favorite restaurants inthe area. We were sat & asked what we would like to drink? A lady by the name of May was our server.. My friend ordered tea &water and I ordered water & requested a pitcher of water to which our server replied no. I clearly stated that I drink anexcessive amount of water to which she said no to again, and walked away. Upon her returning with the tea and water I againasked for a pitcher and she again said no. I asked why, she said it was because of Covid and walked away again. I had orderedpotstickers which we were both enjoying. I had put chili oil on mine & ended up drinking both mine & my friends water. My mouthwas on fire & I requested more water, May, our server answered with attitude that it's gonna be a few minutes. I noticed that atable of 4 had a pitcher of water and again asked, this time to another person in the restaurant taking orders and she also saidno to my request, I pointed out the other table that had a pitcher & she said we've only got 2 people and can't have it! I askedfor my check & paid for the potstickers. This was horrible service and just egregious behavior! Good service truly helps thefood taste better, but what happens when they can't even get the water situation right!? It was but a simple request met withdisdain and attitude!! It's okay if you like noodles. No flavor, blah. Service gal distracted. I had to get up to ask for napkins and a fork, etc.... AND we were the only two customers in the resturant. Forget this place. My first time was not any better. Only reason I wentback was my friend was paying. I took my leftovers home (to please my host). I threw them in the garbage. It's a bummer, it'sso close to home.
