I went in there tonight around 9:37pm as it clearly states their hours online that they close at 10PM and I was refused service... and all I wanted was desert to go! First experience there was bad at first but the lovely bartender that night resolvedeverything and went above and beyond which shows how great people can be and she deserves notice for that but tonight wasdefinitely a big deal specially when there was a table in there being served desert as I walked in there! Ordered prime rib and twice baked potatoes, the meat was ok, the twice baked potatoes were dry and inedible. My Fiance ordered... short ribs they were more like pot roast. Also an appetizer of shrimp, the shrimp had zero flavor. Even our sodas were flat.$120 meal and we were very unsatisfied. Read more
I had a fantastic steak dinner at KOL while on a work trip in Carbondale. The restaurant was slow that evening which is a shame... because locals should be taking advantage of this downtown amenity! Read more
AFTER POSTING A NEGATIVE REVIEW AND THEN HAVING CHAD THE MANAGER CALL TO FOLLOW-UP ON MY REVIEW I AM VERY HAPPY AND WOULD GO... BACK. He went into how they took my comments and have made changes to improve service/quality. VERY NICE TO SEE HOW CONCERNEDTHEY ARE ABOUT THE FOOD! Very disappointing meal. First off all the 2 waitresses were very nice and helpful - not their fault.It was a Culinary package as part of our room stay. (which no one seemed to know anything about???) For a Steakhouse theambiance had little to offer. No table clothes, other tables not setup, not "dining room" music playing. Food the crab cake wasa 10. other than that my wife's steak house salad was a 1/8 size wedge of iceburg lettuce and a few 1/2 cut cherry tomatoes! she added steak which was cut up slices (menu made it sound like a 6 oz steak) My NY strip was Rare, not medium rare and veryhard to cut, didn't finish it. Megan, the bartender at Kol, has always been wonderful to my coworkers and myself whenever we stop for a drink after work. The... service is great, and the drinks are inventive and delicious. Kol also boasts one of the best liquor selections in the area.While I have not yet had food from Kol, those in the groups I often go with have remarked on it's great taste and quality. Read more
Beautiful restaurant that has a solid 5 star look. The service was extremely professional and on point. The manager even came... by to make sure everything was to our liking. He also told us, the history of the restaurant/ hotel and also of the town. For usthat was very interesting. The menu has alot of good options depending on your price point. The steaks that they featured looksvery tasty, but it will cost you a hefty price. My family (4) ordered the signature cheeseburger (2), another ordered theirstuffed shrimp scampi and finally the salmon. The burgers was cooked to our liking (med) and was very good. You have a choiceof fries and sweet potato fries. The stuffed shrimp scampi was ok, but I would've liked a more garlic flavor. The sauce was justa little bland but the stuffed shrimp was wonderful. The salmon was also ok, but it was small and the risotto had more flavor.I think with a little bit of different seasonings or side pairings. It would make the food a solid 5 star. For a steak house, the steak left a lot to be desired! The cut was skimpy & grizzelly for a rib eye & the price was quite high.... The sides & salad were tasty & service was great. Read more
