We came here for food since we went to Carmel beach and it was on the strip next to the beach. The food was honestly just okay... but it's not like it was bad. And it's kind of what I expected from beachside restaurants. The dishes were quite expensive andthe service was pretty slow. The free bread was good. We ordered the vegetarian sandwich, crab cakes, calamari, crab ravioli, clam chowder, and smoked salmon. Out of everything I think I liked the crab cake appetizer the most. For the calamari weactually got the wrong dish since they have calamari steak and regular rings. I wanted the rings but they gave the steak, however I didn't make this super clear when I ordered so I didn't complain about it. I was afraid they'd end up throwing it awaywhich would be a waste. The calamari steak was not super impressive though, the breading kept falling off. The crab ravioli wasalso not very flavorful, the crab was fine but the ravioli itself was kind of flavorless. Not bad but not good. The other stuffwas better but again nothing too crazy especially given the price. Read more

Food was just okay. The free bread at the beginning was a highlight. I got the vegetable panino which was okay, though I wish... they seasoned the avocado a little more. Even adding a little more salt would have made a big difference. The fries that camewith it were pretty good. My friend got the salmon appetizer which was also decent, and my other friend got crab and shrimpravioli which was just okay. The crab was good but sparse, and the ravioli itself didn't taste like much and shouldn't have costso much. Crab cakes were good. The calamari steak's breading was falling off and soggy. Ultimately, I don't think I'd comeagain because none of the food really justified the high price. Read more

Tonight we visited Catch restaurant in downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea. We were greeted and seated quickly. They brought out... champagne and caviar as a welcoming item. We had oysters on the half shell that were delicious, clam chowder, a Caesar salad, and the crusted halibut. The bread was very good but we preferred it with the butter rather than the balsamic. There was livemusic being played at the beginning of our meal and a great soundtrack towards the end. Service is good and the meal was pacedout so we did not feel rushed. Highly recommend this restaurant!!! Read more

The dinner was a ritual. It starts with a complimentary shot of champagne and a spoon of "colored black" caviar. Theme interior,... beautiful wall mural; experienced staff, welcoming but not overwhelming. Music is neutral, so it is possible to have aconversation. We were here for lunch a month ago and came back for dinner. My favorite dish is Halibut with Mashed Potatoes.Soups are very good and other dishes are worth trying. To close the ritual we got a complimentary dessert. Decent experience.Lux and simple. . Note on the wine. Being a wine-enthusiast I had a hard time choosing, it would be great to have olderbottle's. Most of the red wine is great, but a year or two shelf-life will benefit it. Read more

Catch was an incredible seafood experience. To start, we sat down end enjoyed a small spoonful of caviar and a short glass of... schnapps on the house. We all enjoyed seafood dishes, but they did have some land-based entrees as well. I ordered their salmon, but I found their prawn pasta to be the best tasting out of the entrees that were ordered in our group. Their drinks were sogood too, I highly recommend ordering the William Tell, even if you’re not much of a bourbon drinker, it’s so smooth. Read more

Every restaurant has its good days and bad days. I hope our experience at Catch isn't the norm, but it still was our experience... nonetheless. We had a late lunch.. probably around 3pm, so that "shoulder hour" between lunch and dinner when the kitchen isslow. This may account for what we experienced. Securing a table wasn't difficult, and our server gave us the pick of theplace. Catch's decor is reminiscent of a Mediterranean restaurant - murals on the wall and lots of ocean blue colors. I thoughttheir lighting was unique (see attached photo) and certainly a subject for conversation. We weren't very hungry, so we eachdecided on a cup of their chowder and then we split their Caesar salad with grilled chicken breast add-on. The chowder was blandand a bit cool. It tasted like they used regular milk instead of cream but then thickened with corn starch. The salad wasunfortunately not any better. The chicken breast was dry. All told, we spent close to $70 for all this (including one beer). Abit steep and certainly too much for the quality of the food. Again, our experience may have been a fluke. Read more

What a fantastic time, service, company, seating and food/drinks!! We schedule for a later time and had showed early. The were... able to accommodate us and even sat us at a wonderful table outside!! We we so surprised when they offered a starter whichincluded caviar snd champagne!! Fantastic, so yummy.. We ordered and added cocktails with dinner.. The lemon drop I had was thebest I have ever!! My husband requested the 2 Lobster tails and potatoes as I requested the Almond Crusted Halibut and salad..We also ordered the “BEST” Calamari Steak EVER, tender, sweet amazing!! The sauce over the calamari was great with the sidesliced crunch bread they served.. The price was comparable to a fine dining experience and we honestly felt comfortable with theprice.. we will be back.. a must if your in Carmel Read more

Food was excellent. Service was slow if you’re looking for a quick meal. Definitely more centered toward the late date crowd... that wants to have time between courses. Friendly service overall. The bus boy did keep trying to take our appetizer platebefore we had finished half of the calamari, not realizing that there was still food left. Sort of annoying after the thirdtime. We didn’t even have our entrees at that point that we would have been finished. Welcoming and relaxing atmosphere. Read more
