The roasted artichoke is quite possibly one of the most delicious things I've ever eaten. It is a seasonal item and the server... said you can call ahead to see if they have it. Tuna app was very good. Service was great and they had a nice local wine andbeer selection. Read more

Dinner was wonderful. Staff are the best. I was welcomed by a warm and very friendly hostess (Ishtar), had great conversation... with the bartender (Shon), and the manager (Nathaniel) was on top of making sure things were perfect and was full ofsuggestions. I ordered all the staff favorites and they were spot on. Absolutely delicious. I will be back for more warmatmosphere, great drinks and food. I’ll make sure to save room for dessert next time. We were greeted by the delightful smells wafting from the kitchen of The Rio Grill, that unmistakable aroma of smoking meat. ... The ambiance is a southwest motif, clean and extremely LOUD. The fried calamari was done to perfection but the Haystack onionrings were extremely greasy and virtually inedible. All four of us agreed. The food was beautiful and well presented, but thisis not an establishment for people who have dietary limitations. None of us ate even half of our meals and my vegetable risottowas inedible, too much corn and the combo of basil and poblano just didn't work. The Stuffed Poblano Chile was mostly quinoaand a bit dry, and the burger had soggy bacon. To top it off the server never asked if our food was satisfactory or why weweren't eating. The best thing we had beside the calamari was the tamale. I know my husband & won't go back, but our friendswho were with us love this place. This is a MEAT eater's paradise. Read more

Came in for dinner and it did not disappoint. We usually stop here whenever we visit this area. The Hawaiian swordfish special... was delicious! Our server was friendly and attentive. Read more

Rio Grill has a parking lot, which makes parking easy and convenient. We were seated within minutes of our arrival. We were soon... greeted warmly by Kat (Cat?). She made great suggestions for drinks and the meal. She made us feel so relaxed and we werelaughing like old friends in no time. We had the Charred Romaine Heart and Basket of House-Made Herb-Truffle Bread withMaple-Chipotle Butter. The salad was so flavorful, and the bread was warm and tasty with the butter - don't skip the butter. Ihad the Atlantic Salmon and it was delicious! Kat said, "The Chipotle-Lime Vinaigrette with the salmon is everything to me", andshe was correct (so good!). My husband had the Surf & Turf Special and had no regrets. We had the cheesecake and apple breadpudding for dessert, and they were a perfect ending for a perfect meal. We will definitely return to Rio Grill the next timewere in Monterey. Read more
