In the area...games at Grand Park...coach wanting a moment to eat awy from your team (like me)...or just want some great food... and great service? Sunrise Cafe is the spot! I tellya what, I'd stack it against ANY breakfast restaurant! Greeted immediately,seated immediately, and my server, Ann, was the best! She was friendly, patient, cared about who you are, and always had asmile. And dig this, the chef brought my plate out to my table so professionally, it made me feel presidential! Good little hidden gem in a big office complex. The burger and fries was good. The friends said the Ruben was fantastic. I got... the tenderloin and it was just okay. Kind of reminder me of the frozen fritters from the store. Their chicken tortilla soup is ared based so it was more like a chilly than your typical soup, but was still really good. Moved here from Chicago and have been looking for a great diner on the north side. A buddy and I have been bouncing around from... diner to diner for about a year and have found our spot at Sunrise. It's exactly what you want in a homestyle, old fashioneddiner. Service is quick, food comes out in minutes fresh and hot right off the flat top. I've tried many things on the menu andhaven't been disappointed. In fact I would say the food is better than most and as good as any. It is not a "high end chain"breakfast boutique. It IS the BEST diner on the north side for a great homestyle breakfast. Highly recommend! Read more
Tried this place out today and here?s a pros and cons list: PROS: - Food was decent quality - Portion size was perfect - Price... was reasonable CONS: - There?s an elderly manager/ owner that was visibly annoyed that we had a stroller for our 1 year old. Ittakes up just as much space as a booster seat would. - The wait staff is just ?meh?. With the exception of 1 waitress (whichwasn?t assigned to us unfortunately), everyone else seemed very transactional. The vibe was ?I?m talking to you because it?s myjob. We found the Sunrise Cafe thanks to Google reviews and it did not disappoint! Hidden on the ground level of an office building,... it truly is a hidden gem. Service was friendly and quick. You have to try their homemade strawberry jam! My son was a littleconcerned about his breakfast burrito at first (he is 13 and eats a big breakfast) but it was packed full and he said it was thebest breakfast ever. Six of us tried this place for the first time because every other brunch place in Carmel had a 45 minute wait. Keep in mind, the... restaurant was HALF FULL. Here are a few things worth mentioning: 1. While we were walking to the table, the hostess asked forour coffee orders. Half of us didn?t hear her because we weren?t expecting to order before we got to the table. 2. We waited 25minutes before we had to go to the hostess to say we were ready to order. Our waitress had not been to our table yet. 3. Whenthe waitress arrived, the first thing she said was, ?I know I?m short on waters but I was told to get over here.? 4. We receivedthe check with the food but we needed 3 separate checks. When asked to separate the check, our waitress said, ?If I have time, Iwill do it. No, actually Jim (the owner) will do it.? As she said this she rolled her eyes. It was awkward and I felt bad forasking a simple request. 5. The food was fine, especially for the price.
