Great meal and incredible service! It's been years since I had eaten there but it is still the amazing gem I remembered. The... only thing I wish I had known in advance was that they prefer cash or check and charge 3% for credit card use and I saw nothingabout the until I got the bill. Unfortunately, it was a larger party that I was picking up the check for and I didn't have theright amount of cash on me to pay cash and had to pay the additional fee. Their reviews are... always over 50% 1 stars, ie they?re already miserable people looking to spread the wealth. This place is great. Amazing bang foryour buck, a kind family environment, and service that does not cater to pretentious, entitled customers. Matter of fact andpolite. I love their signature chicken dish, and your dollar goes a long way with the complimentary soup and salad. You have tobe wildly entitled to look at their location, prices, and atmosphere and think, ?why am I not being treated to a 5 star NYCdining experience?!?. Update 9/3/22: Still an outstanding spot for a great meal. The Pasta Louise is perfect if you're in a meat and red sauce mood.... The canoli is great too. And the cheesecake is the best I've ever had. All the bold flavor but doesn't weigh you down like mostcheesecakes. The best thing of all though is the people. Kent is an exceptional host, and his staff is so kind and disciplined.I loved this place before, and it's an all-time favorite now. Get over there for dinner as fast as you can! Holy cow, the housespecial chicken here is criminally good. Staff is quick, friendly, and very efficient. Great coffee too for an after mealcapper. An excellent, authentic Italian spot. Read more

I live in California and I am Very particular about authentic Italuan food since I grew upnext door to an Italian woman named Suzie, who used to teach me how to make all Italian food from scratch and every Sunday shewould invite my entire family over for a delicious Italian meal & to this day Other than a Italian restaurant in Colorado thatis no longer open ?.have I ever an had anything come close to what she made for us, until I visited Mama Louise restaurant hereon Orchard Rd! So glad this 44 year established restaurant survived the recent tough times. Good food and entrees still include soup or salad... at no extra cost! My entree also came with a complimentary side of spaghetti & marinara. Their daily made desserts include anold favorite of mine, the red wine sundae. A Class Act in attentive, friendly service and decor. The owner, Kent Gaccettavisits every table and knows many regulars by first name! To be honest, I was mortified. Nothing like fire and brimstone warning signs plastered all over the lobby about refusing to seat... ?incomplete parties? to make you in the mood for wholesome Italian comfort food. The menu is obscenely overpriced and not wortha fraction of the cost. There are no genuine salad dressings, just bottled Italian and Ranch. I ordered a nearly $11 steamedmussels appetizer and it came with a whopping eight mussels and a meager sliver of garlic bread. This was followed by a bland,mushy, flavorless spaghetti and meatballs with sad looking two meatballs floating around the watery sauce. Two forlorn,flavorless garlic knots finished off this mockery. I?m also not sure what is happening in the bathroom, but the men?s roomsmelled like a raw sewage treatment plant somewhere in rural Romania. The denouement came at the end of the wretched meal, witha laminated card in the receipt folder that stated I will be given a 3% ?adjustment? on my bill because it was tendered througha credit card. Not a word of warning beforehand. What?s really obnoxious is that the only reason this restaurant gets away withthis nonsense is because they promote themselves as a ?mom & pop? eatery. 2021-Nov, Sat night, party of 2. Lots of parking. We got seated right away. We ordered 1 appetizer (Calamari), 2 entrees... (Linguine in garlic sauce & cheese ravioli), 1 soda, and 2 desserts. The calamari was ok. The linguine was a little bland, butthe ravioli was good. The pumpkin cheesecake was ok, but i did not like the Spumoni. Service was great!! Our total was about$65, before tip.
