I stopped in for dinner on a whim with my family. It was my first visit, but certainly won't be my last. The atmosphere was... inviting, the service exceptional. And the food was splendid! We started with a cheese board featuring three different cheesesand various toppings. For our main courses, I had the seafood special -- a fish filet wrapped around lump crab meat and shrimp, served with mashed potatoes and asparagus. It was outstanding. My wife had a lobster ravioli, and my mom had a salmonrisotto. Although we skipped dessert (the portions are quite copious), we saw a nearby couple sharing a dessert which lookedgood. I highly recommend this restaurant for its excellent service, enjoyable atmosphere, reasonable prices, and most of all,its delicious food. Read more

Since we moved away from Chadds Ford we just don't get back here as much as we would like to. Last night's 5 star experience... caused us to question "why not?" Our very first question to our server Phillip, was "where do you get this incredible, sweet, creamy butter?"- and he explained the process (it involves a little honey). My Ahi Tuna and House Salad, which I had as anentree, were amazing. My husband said his Filet Mignon was perfect. And the dark chocolate banana cream cake was to diefor! Thank you for a special evening. Read more

This is a rustic and historic resturant off Rt 1. Inside it is dimly lit. Probably a nice ambiance at night but its daytime and... I love natural light so i decide to sit outside. That wasnt much better. Lol. There was a canopy type tent and stone walls, andflooring so it didnt feel “open”. Nevertheless, we make the best of it. The Server was nice and attentive. The foodwas….well…blah. I didn’t care for my meal; 4 lobster ravioli. My appetizer, calamari, was like frozen rubber rings friedup. Oh but wait. The chocolate martini was lovely. As a matter of fact, Im going from 2 to 3 stars on that martini. ???????? Read more

Went to Gables for Easter brunch. Beautiful spot! Our server Cathy was excellent! I forgot my readers, the restaurant was at... its peak for checked reservations. Cathy provided me with readers and that saved my day. The buffet had great selections evenfor picky eaters. The drinks were so good and paired well with the menu. Definitely will be back. Read more

We had our wedding at the gables this past September and it was truly the most beautiful venue for what we wanted. I toured the... gables back in 2019 and fell in love with it as soon as I saw it and booked it shortly after. The booking process was simple andthe Gables makes it affordable splitting the overall bill up in payments. We did have a few issues along the way with ourcoordinator being switched a few times but I think it’s mostly just the climate of the world we’re living in today. Ourday-of coordinator, Carol, was absolutely amazing. Our wedding day would not have been what it was if it wasn’t for Carol. Shetruly does make sure you have everything you need and genuinely cares that your day is perfect. If you’re looking for gorgeouswedding venue with amazing food then Gables is a wonderful place. Noticed the restaurant while driving by and decided to stop for dinner on the way home for our anniversary. It was quiet on a... Sunday night, no need for reservations even though we made them. The outdoor patio looked cozy and attractive as we passed. Wesat issue the dining room which was cute. A little loud as some mentioned because of the hard surfaces and low ceiling but it'san old building. Our server was extremely nice and helpful and did not rush us. We ordered the tuna as an appetizer and I gotthe mushroom soup. Both were high quality. For dinner my husband ordered the pork chop which was perfectly cooked and theapples and sauce on top complimented it perfectly. I ordered the fish special which was beyond wonderful - a white fish toppedwith crab and a pineapple salsa. We ordered coffee, espresso, and tiramisu for dessert. The tiramisu was decedent - a lightlysweetened thick cream topped with espresso powder with a few lady finger cookies hidden inside. It was the best part ofdinner! I also really liked the butter and bread that came with dinner. Not something you would normally note but it wasobviously all freshly made and the butter had a natural sweetness to it. I can see stopping back again when I'm in the area. Read more
