Had dinner there last night. Small place with cozy interior. friendly people and you feel welcomed. Tried a number of things.... Food as a whole was good but nothing was memorable that you go back to eat. Scallop dish was underwhelming in particular. Tinyscallops not seared well. I like small plates restaurants but this is like tiny plates restaurant. They seriously need to workon the portion sizes. We are not big eaters and we ordered 4 plates plus 2 desserts and it still wasn’t filling. So so glad to see a favorite of ours reopen after months of being closed for updates. We fell in love with The Reserve every bit... as much as we did with Umami. Some familiar favorites hearken back to the previous concept but many dishes are new. All areserved as small plates which makes sharing easy and trying a lot of different things expected. As a couple, we were more thansatisfied with 6 plates, seems like a lot but trust me, it’s the right amount for hungry eaters. We tried the mushrooms,smashed potatoes, brussel sprouts, sashimi, hanger steak, and salmon and all were excellent. Standouts were the smashedpotatoes, sashimi, and the hanger steak. As far as ambiance goes, I can’t say enough. The romantic vibe is retained if notamplified this time around, by chill music, low lights, and the vibe of New York restaurant, tucked away to be discovered by thelucky few. The aesthetic design is lovely with a more earthy and rustic chic feel, upscale and authentic. It really does feel asthose you’re stepping into a self-contained world. Service was excellent as always. There is a warmth that emanates from theplace. Almost indescribable. With all the wonderful new restaurants cropping up in Chagrin Falls, The Reserve represents awholly unique experience. It’s intimate. It’s unlike any other restaurant in town. First time here tonight for my birthday by recommendation from my sister and brother in-law. Amazing....all I can say. Owner was... super friendly and funny and the food was great. Very cozy, upscale environment. P.S. if the owner should see thisreview...again, I'm am SO sorry for breaking your overhead lighting fixture with my head when I stood up. I can't apologizeenough. Pros: Service, Ambience Cons: Price and the food. The taste is so complicated that I couldn't effectively describe it. I ordered... Chicken Curry and expected Thai Chicken Curry flavor. When the food comes, I did not know what I was eating. It looks likecurry, tastes like black pepper milky stew. I finished it, but wish I didn't eat the food after. A good analogy of the food -apple that tastes like orange. My wife ordered pork ramen with tonkotsu broth. Expected Japanese style ramen - the reality was aRamen noodle in brown stew. She felt the same - edible, not bad, but tasted weird. Would not recommend this place for theentree. Could have gotten something better at this price point. Read more

Umami is one of a kind! The staff is always incredibly attentive, helpful, and charming! They make every visit feel like you are... dining with friends! Their knowledge of the menu is impressive and they are always willing to offer suggestions if you aren'tsure what to order. The food is absolutely stellar! There is something on the menu for everyone and the quality is top notch!The dishes have a lot of fun, creative twists on classic dishes. The food is always so fresh and you can tell that they sourcetheir ingredients locally. Honestly, it is some of the best fish in the Cleveland area! The service and drinks were great. The food was underwhelming. My husband and I went there before the renovation and we were... blown away by the food. It was hands down one of the best dinners we had ever had. We went back a couple weeks ago and were sodisappointed. We knew the portion sizes were small, which is fine if you have great seasoning and flavor, but there was none. Hoping the owner reassesses her dishes! Bring back the umami flavor! Read more
