We stopped by this restaurant to celebrate my husband's birthday 11/6/18. We're from Miami and were in town for the week and I... think our expectations were too high (We're used to Benihana). For one, we appreciated the quantity of food we received but theplace in general wasn't too clean. There was a sink right next to our table. The table we sat at was dirty and had rice on theseats! The chef was nice but he cooked our food with an extremely dirty apron. Our food was decent but not up to par but thenagain I may have lost my appetite due to the lack of cleanliness. Used to LOVE this place. Price per quality was great. Service was good. Now, not coming back. Service is slow and bad. Prices... went through the roof! Quality is also bad now. Not coming back. There?s other places I?d rather go now in the parish. Read more
Stopped in for lunch. Left with dinner too.Prices are right and portions are large our hibachi cook Augusteen was super good... even did a few tricks I haven't seen before .he's super personable and makes sure the kids at the table have a smile on theirface . 10 out of 10 thank you ! Read more
If you're in The Parish and you have a hankering for sushi....the you need to give this place a try. Huge menu. Good value. ... They also have Habachi if that's your thing. Read more
I'm only giving this place 5 stars because the food is so amazing. The portions are HUGE and everything is perfectly... cooked. Service sucks. Everyone there acts like they don't want to be there. Not friendly at all. If the food wasn't so good,we wouldn't go back Read more
The building is not clear in it's front door. Boarded up windows. Staff was younger who took a long time to greet you and forgot... to come to the table. The hibachi chef was kind and food wasn't terrible but the noodles tasted off. They started cleaning theother grills for closing with chemicals while we were still sitting there and an hour to close. I don't mind when they closehibachi but they were using chemicals right next to customers. Read more
I usually only come to Umi for their sushi, which is consistently delicious - I?d recommend their Chocolate City roll (spicy... tuna, snow crab, avocado, topped with seared tuna, wrapped in soy paper, and chef?s sauce) or their normal Philadelphia Roll.But we sat at their hibachi table this time. This is how much food I had leftover after eating an entire meal?s worth at thetable! The chef was a lot of fun and the hibachi itself was as good as it gets. And nice service too! Food was amazing. Wish this place was closer to Metairie area. Crab Rangoon were amazing tasting, hibachi rice and veggies were... great. Accidently burned my mouth on the soup so didn't get a real taste for that but I do plan on coming back. Looking at thebuilding from the outside, it doesn't look great, but inside was much better on the eyes. Read more
