The outside doesn't look like much, but the inside is absolutely beautiful. I had the butter chicken with naan which I thought... was very good. I had a Turkish Mule to drink and thought it was good. Service is friendly and attentive. We had a few differentpeople show up to our table to check on us which gave off a family atmosphere to the restaurant. Read more
My first time here. Food was great!! Really good!! Service not so much. There was some kinda confusion about how to make a... Lemonade. That I had to ask for three times and got Lemon Water. It tasted like lemon water. We had too many different peoplecoming to our table, wasn't sure who was our server. But the Lady that there was so friendly, and Nice and Helpful she made ourexperience better. I will definitely get food here again, but probably take out. Read more
Loved the selection of food, the butter chicken was delightful! I unfortunately received a broken glass, I didn't bring it to... their attention in fear of them just pouring it into another glass. Our attempt to contact Kohinoor restaurant was unsuccessful, and there was no reply to my message of 2 days. So we contacted... Himalayan Chimney, and we got an instant response, and we headed out to dinner. There's street parking right outside therestaurant, and being a weekday, it was payable until 9.00 pm at 0.75 per hour. Inside the Himalayan Chimney restaurant , wewere attended to immediately and seated by a raised pavilion. The waiter was calm, attentive, and good. He took our orders andsoon came back with the starters. The chicken 65 was tasty and delicious. Soon, it was over and then the sizzling tandooriquadruple platter, and the rest of the order was brought out, and we were tucking in. The goat briyani was a tad goatless, andthe few pieces of mutton were not boneless, but for the price of $16.99, it was reasonable. The 4 different items on theTandoori quadruple platter were all very well made, tasty, and delicious. Dal Himalayan was equally good, and G Jams were hotand soft, nice, as is the kheer. Himalayan Chimney is a go-to spot if you're ever in the UIUC area! The food is delicious and so flavourful, and the restaurant... itself has a very clean and modern interior. We were served very quickly even though the place was packed. The servers were veryattentive and helped us select appetizers - some of the items we ordered were the samosa chat, tikki, calamari, tandoorichicken, lamb chops, a few orders of garlic naan, and chai to drink. Everything was delicious and spiced perfectly. The foodcame out very quickly and the tikki especially was well seasoned and crispy. We packed our leftovers and everything was stilljust as good the next day! Before leaving UIUC, we actually went back and ordered an extra set of lamb chops and garlic naanto-go for a friend that we were driving to see the next day (even though she no longer lives in the area, this place is one ofher faves!) Good service, decent food, relaxing ambiance, and overall a relatively nice experience. However, tandoori chicken was not very... good, and silverware was a little dirty. Cocktails were also unavailable the night I went and it was quite disappointing becausetheir drink menu is what is what initially made me want to go there. But all in all, not bad. Read more
Wonderful food with nice atmosphere. Waitress was friendly and helped us a lot. I am not familiar with Indian food but she made... us feel welcome. Liked the choice of rice or naan with curry dishes, get the garlic naan for sure. Goat curry had lots of meat,overall very filling and decently spicy. Read more
