Dining here was such a wonderful experience. It was the anniversary of my son and daughter and it was truly a family affair to... remember ???? ??. This is a great special occasion venue. The decor is understated, but it’s really all about the spectacle at each hibachi... table. The service was terrific, mostly thanks to Tylon and our chef Long. They both are engaging with personality plus. All thefood was good, but the main entree was outstanding. The scallops, shrimp, and calamari were fresh and amazingly tender. This place is legit!! Tylon and Long were the best chefs/staff. They made our birthday celebration very fun! The food was really... good and the drinks were nice as well. Always a good time, you can never really go wrong here. If you have never experienced the show then it’s a bucket list you... need to add. Our chef tonight was amazing and kept the table rolling in laughter. The knife skills are master chef worthy.Geoffrey hands down is a keeper for this establishment. When all else fails just order the fish bowl of drinks it will get youthere but be sure you have a partner otherwise they won’t serve it to you. Our wait staff needs a true round of applause asthey served three table tops of 8 each at the same time and juggling drinks and pre dinner routines like champions. First time here, extremely disappointing experience. One star for the chef, Carlos, because he was engaging and entertaining the... entire meal, very considerate as to asking our preferences, allergies, etc. great guy. I don’t blame him at all for how thefood turned out, and he did do a good job on some scallops. I’ll start off by saying we had a reservation for 7:15pm, we gotthere on time but had to wait outside where it was rather cold for about 15 minutes to be seated. By 9:00pm, we still had notseen our chef yet and ordered another round of drinks by that time. I understand short staffing, but over an hour wait WITHreservation is ridiculous. I did a bit of research before I came, and the food performed as expected…and much worse. Youshould know that in the food world Benihana is not known for being authentic - the articles I read mentioned sushi not wortheating, bland onion soup and a boring salad - and they were right. Onion soup broth tasted literally like Cup Noodle soup waterbut somehow, with less taste. Cup noodles would have been more flavorful. The salad is just the same as any salad, except theydump this bitter ginger mustard sauce on it - it quite literally looks like someone threw up on the salad, and tastes as muchlike it. Furthermore that same sauce is served with a ‘mustard sauce’ to accompany the appetizers and entrees, but they arenearly the same in taste and bitterness except the mustard sauce lacks ginger mulch in it. As for the rest of the food, ittasted like gasoline, except for the fried rice, which despite heaping amounts of garlic butter, had less taste than fried riceyou could buy in a Safeway deli. My tuna steak was dry and flavorless, besides the overwhelming taste of sesame and burnt oil,and it was like trying to eat cotton balls despite the fact it was cooked medium rare. The performance was less then what I expected. I remember an immersive and fun interaction with the customers. When booking for... dinner should find out beforehand if it is a special occasion and send your experienced chef to the performance. The volcano isalways a nice touch. We brought our kids here so they could see what mom got for her birthday. We wanted to surprise and wow them but that didn't... happen! First of all when the reservations were made we specifically asked for more showmanship from our chef than we got on mywife's birthday back in December. Then when we checked in for our reservation we asked the hostess for an entertaining chef forour twins birthday. What we got was not what we expected. A scorched grill which left a burned taste in the food and even worsetasting when I had it for leftovers. 3 or 4 tricks is all we got, yet the table across from us had a more exciting performancethat my kids could watch from two tables away! For the $250 bill spent I wasn't happy or impressed and neither were mykids. Our server was great and very engaging! Food was far better and flavorful in December. Disappointed for my kids notgetting to experience the chef's tricks like they saw at the other table or what they saw on the video monitors in the entryway. One of the employee said that they don't usually use that table! Don't know why we were sat there since they were clearing2 other tables.
