I think this is officially my favorite Japanese place in town!!! The food here was amazing! The sushi was super high quality and... fresh. I go to a lot of sushi places in town and compared to them, Shimogamo is on the pricier side but definitely worth themoney. You can taste the difference in the quality of the sushi here. Reservations are available online and are pretty easy tomake. From the reservation screen I saw they had the regular dining experience and the Omakase experience ($120/person andminimum of 2 people), which I definitely want to try next time! My friend and I made reservations online and were seated as soonas we got there even though we were 15 minutes early. Once we got to the seat the server helped explain to us that their twomost famous items were the Hirame Usuzukuri ($20) and the Truffle Amberjack ($21), both located under appetizers on the papermenu. Per her recommendation, we got the Hirame Usuzukuri, which was the halibut. That was my favorite dish that night!!! Thehalibut tasted super fresh and the sauce had the perfect amount of citrus flavoring from the yuzu and didn't overpower thefish. We also got the sunomono and fried calamari. We loved how refreshing the sunomono was, it had the perfect amount oftartness from the vinegar and the octopus, cucumber, and seaweed complemented each other perfectly. The fried calamari was goodbut tasted like average fried calamari, the nori flakes did give it a nice seaweed flavoring but there was nothing too specialabout the dish overall. This was probably my least favorite dish here. We also got a variety of nigiri with the salmon nigiribeing our favorite! All of the nigiri were super thick and fresh but the salmon one just hit differently. It was one of the mostsalmon tasting salmon I have had in my life!! I took my husband here for his birthday. Mathew made it the most amazing dinner experience we’ve had here in Phoenix. My... husband told Mathew you bring us what you think is best. I decided ok sure, even though I’m a bit picky. OMG seriouslyeverything was off the charts amazing. Beyond actually! Highly recommend. Ask for Mathew we enjoyed him very much. On point100%!! Seriously the best sushi in the Phoenix-metro. Futomaki roll is my favorite roll ever and it's extremely hard to find as it's... typically just pickled radish. I was pleasantly surprised to find it here and it was such a good roll. So were the other threerolls we had. Appetizers were fantastic as well (shishito peppers, gy?za, pickled vegetables). Our server was extremely nice,and the owners visited our seating area at the bar a few times to ensure everythjng was great. Our sushi chef was fantastic aswell. I have no doubt you'll enjoy your visit. Make sure to tip your serving staff, and if you're seated at the sushi bar,don't forget to tip the chefs! Read more

Two words: FINE DINING! This place is amazing! Sushi is fresh, flavorful and spectacular quality. Staff is attentive and the... atmosphere is nice. This is not a place to go if you are looking for heavily seasoned and condimentes sushi. If you enjoy sushiin its purest form or rolls where you can savor the fish and ingredients, then I highly recommend this place. Exquisite. Creative. Fresh. Elegant. High standards. Unassuming since it sits in a strip mall… my goodness… I don’t know... how else to say it. I only hesitate leaving a good review because I don’t want everyone to come at once. I sit at the sushibar. I start with oysters. Maybe an octopus salad that is one of the best I have ever ver had. Call first. Weekends are busy socall even if it’s same day. Closed Monday. Only open for dinner other nights.
