Stopped in for a late lunch today on our way back from Brenham. We had a chopped beef and sliced beef sandwich and shared... fries, black eyed peas, and potato salad. Sliced and chopped beef were decent, not too fatty, but fell short of excellent. Thebuns were homemade which was nice (they are a bakery, after all) the bbq sauce came across with too much ketchup taste and wastoo sweet. Black eyed peas were the winner for the sides. Fries were hot and crisp and made to order. The potato salad wasonly ?ok? and had some added vinegar flavor that added an odd aftertaste. Buttermilk pie was quite good. Not a bad option, butit doesn?t stand out in a state known for excellent BBQ. Read more

Decided to stop in and treat my children rather than stop at a fast food place. Regrettably that would have been a better choice... the food was subpar and expensive. However, the decision to leave this review was motivated by the negative and rude demeanor ofthe employee cutting the meats this evening specifically. The food on the bar was quite unappetizing and the place was almostempty now I know why. I received fresher food and the best service and smile at a Sonic this morning. ***restrooms were filthy. Quick service, large location to accommodate large groups. The jalapeño sausage was sadly not flavorful. Portions were generous... and the bread/rolls they make in house were the best part of the meal. Read more

Always worth stopping when traveling between Austin and Houston. The bakery alone is worth it, then throw in the assortment of... jam?s, jellies, and preserves to take home! Top it all off with some real good home cooking for when you are truly hungry. Those who judge BBQ quality by the line probably think Bill Millers (San Antonio chain) is quality BBQ. While their BBQ brisketis not the best I have had in Texas, it is every bit as good as Franklin?s in Austin. Bottom line in the years going to thisplace we have always received friendly service and something good to eat. Read more

When your husband says ?I hope you always look at me the way you look at that bread.? You know it?s a winner. We enjoyed the... delicious bread and took a loaf home. I didn?t even notice the price and didn?t care. BBQ was also great too. Can recommend theMac n cheese, brisket, and chicken. Read more

Great barbeque and bakery spot. Lots of seating, which is good as this is a frequent stop for bus groups. Menu is posted on the... wall and you order at the food table and their employees build your plate. Barbeque is excellent and they have a large choice ofsides. Our timing was bad and we arrived straight up noon and when a bus load had arrived. Was about 20 minutes to get throughthe line but it was worth the wait. I definitely recommend the pulled pork and brisket. Read more

Just passing through and found this gem. The BBQ was delicious ????, I especially liked the ribs. They had a good smoke ring... and great flavor. I also got some seasoned/packaged meats to cook at home. Everything including the environment was appealing.Would definitely stop again if around the area. Read more
