Road the Capitol Trail out here from Jamestown. A perfect stopping place. Great ambiance, very attentive and personable... servers, and the food was outstanding. We shared a falafel wrap and the Chicken CAB with sides of fries and their honey mustardslaw. Everything was fresh and very well prepared. This is a great place! Read more

A bit shaky at first, not sure what was going on but guessing they were just slammed. Out of a few things i kind of wanted but... that happens. Got the fried chicken sammich, jeez! The food there was REALLY good. The layout itself is a bit...odd because it'sa converted home but it works really well. Definitely recommend! Read more

Great food in beautiful country setting. First time visitors, had the Charles City burger, steak fries for appetizer, & bread... pudding with ice-cream for dessert. Enjoyed a concert in the barn by Buckshot VB. We'll definitely be back! Read more

We finally had the experience of dining here on Sunday afternoon while out riding the bike. We were pleasantly surprised at how... nice it was . The service and the food was excellent! We will definitely be returning. Oh and the Bread Pudding was off thechain! Read more

We were going for a drive along Route 5 in Charles City county Virginia. We stopped at Shirley Plantation and on our way back... from Lawrence Lewis Jr Park on the James River we saw this neat Bistro on the roadside. The place was hopping from roadsidetraffic and bicyclists from the Virginia Capital Trail. We ordered the Blue Crab Rangoon appetizer which was crunchy, hot, freshand delicious. I ordered the Tavern Burger, which had a hint of pink (the way I like it), was juicy and very good. My son hadthe BBQ Dry Rub chicken wings which were seasoned to perfection and were pretty big for wings. My wife got the Charles CityBurger and loved the bacon jam on it. The Country Cubano sandwich is OH So delicioso! Their summer side of Pasta Primaveraneeded better seasoning and the pasta was a little overdone. The atmosphere was great on a beautiful day. We ate on the screenedporch and was able to hear the live music coming from the patio. I would highly recommend this place. Read more

We often stop here on our way to NC or on the way back. It's about 45 minutes outside of Williamsburg on John Tyler, which makes... it a great date place for a special occasion. The atmosphere is relaxed and casual. Tonight there were more people than I haveever seen (their overflow parking had overflowed), I was really worried we would be waiting for 30-45 minutes. I honestly don'tknow how, but we were seated right away and there were still empty tables around. They even were able to accommodate my dog whowas in the car traveling with us. I love how many different types of seating they have-- which is a strange compliment, butthey have (non-crowded) indoor seating, a bar, two porches (screened), a patio, and tables on the grass. Tonight there was livemusic. There is other nights, but I don't know the schedule. However, it's still very intimate and easy to relax. The food isexcellent. They have seasonal dishes and standards. Nothing I have had there has been bad, subpar, or even "just okay." I'vealways come away thinking, what an amazing chef. The portion sizes are well thought-out and filling and they have a goodselection of beers and wines. Read more
