By far my favorite part of my vacation! Michael Harvey, the chef and owner, knows what he's doing and is passionate about his... work and vision. Creative, authentic Mexican cuisine. The spicy peach margarita to start! We had the pleasure of trying multipledishes while sipping on Sotol on the rocks, which I was informed is something between tequila and mezcal. Smooth and perfectcomplement to this feast of Ceviche, Tamale, my favorite Pulpo (grilled octopus with plantain puree and a delightful bite),carne asada taco, and pork shank over rice. Topped it all off with churros. All heaven on a plate! Why can't every day be thisgood? Also, impeccable knowledgeable servers and bartenders. Up there with best dining experience I've had! I've eaten at literally thousands of Mexican restaurants all over the world. Jalisco Taqueria is in the top 5. They make... everything including their tortillas from scratch and use farm to table fresh ingredients. The staff are friendly and attentiveand pricing is good. Nice restaurant, slightly remodeled from the original restaurant "screen door" fresh paint new doors, different menu set up,... cross between high-end tacos and fine? Dining. Staff is friendly. The nachos were good, fried egg on top and avacodo slices. Entree carne Asad, and she got the enchilada. Low end spicy (jalapeños to me are no more than a green pepper). Wife says hershas kick. What a fantastic visit! I chose this place to try somewhere new when my Mexican food loving friend was in town. We hopped over... on a Monday evening which was perfect because they were NOT busy. We asked to sit outside (the only ones out there) and theyhappily accommodated us. They have a decent happy hour on their snacks (queso, dips etc) which I prefer to discounts on alcohol.The elote dip was delicious. Chips are not brought out unless you order dips including salsa from the menu. Their jalapenomargarita may be my new favorite in Charleston! We ordered 10 tacos which were a fun variety of what they have to offer (and agood deal 10 for 39 when most of the tacos on the menu are $5 each).
