We visited this restaurant for the first time tonight because we had a Restaurant.com certificate. Thought we’d give it a try... since we love wine and we love good Italian. We were told after arrival from our waiter in consultation with the owner that theyno longer accept Restaurant.com certificates. A little disappointed- BUT they did what they could to make it right. Now onto thefood. We started with Caesar salads and then decided on the pasta Vodka and the Bolognese. Let me just say- the flavors took mestraight back to our vacation in Umbria, Italy. The quality, richness and flavors were on par with the best food we had inItaly. Hats off to the chefs. We found our new favorite Italian place. This was our first time at Arooji's Wine room and for a Saturday night it was surprisingly empty but honestly, we didn't mind... since it added to the intimate feel which we do enjoy. We ordered a few different appetizers and entrees and compared to otherItalian restaurants in the Charlotte area we feel the food underwhelmed, we are not saying that it was not good just giving ourhonest opinion as compared to other restaurants. The service by the staff was top notch and there was never an empty glass ofwater, wine or dirty dish on the table. Stopped in for a late lunch meeting and was not disappointed. Quiet and cozy place with great service and good food. I didn't... have wine, but the selection was extensive. Customized one of the dishes (I had Gnocchi w/ grilled chicken in a Vodka sauce)and it was very good (sorry; forgot to take a photo). The coffee was fresh and good. Wonderful interiors. The decor needs to be appreciated and you can visit this place just to feel the ambience. Customer service... was excellent. They took around 15-20 to serve the food. The food was good, My go to Italian dish in a new place is always spaghetti and meatballs...if they can't get that right I'm... never going back. The meatballs were obviously house made , they were good. I also sampled the rigatoni bolognese, and theartichoke salad they were good too. The atmosphere was dreary, it was a low energy atmosphere. I wasn't sure who they aretrying to cater to...it felt off, which is a shame because the food was as good or better than other Italian restaurants aroundtown. If you want a good meal in a quiet place this is your place. Read more
