This review combines two different visits to Aberdeen Barn. The prime rib here is outstanding, although I'm glad they have salt... and pepper on the table, it was a little bland. The doneness was perfectly medium rare as ordered. And please, Angela, upgradeyour pepper shakers to actually accommodate the coarse grind you are putting in them. Customers arent using less pepper, theyjust cant get much out of the shakers and dont think to remove the shaker cap to get an adequate amount of pepper like my wifeand I have learned to do. This is not just an Aberdeen problem, its a systemic restaurant problem. I see it all the time. Weliked our server, Jimmy (spelling?). I just wish we could have seen his face. This place is still "masking" their servers. Ifeel sorry for those who are required to wear them that dont really want to. Charlottesville is still a "masky" place, so maybethe clientele like this? I dont recall seeing any patrons wearing them, so... Our previous visit was some time ago and I cantremember the server's name, but we had no problem with the service then either. We all ate prime rib at this recent visit, so Icant comment on the other dishes. Unless you eat here all the time, I cant imagine why you would come to the premier prime riband steak house in Charlottesville and not eat prime rib or steak. On our previous visit, the only negative comment is the onionrings we ordered were oily and limp. Not good at all. The escargot was OK, everything else good. The bread sticks are strangefor such an upscale priced place. Hard and crunchy and essentially a cold cheese whiz served with them. Both taste OK, itjust...doesn't make sense. Granted, they and the bread are not a separate charge from the meal. I wont say "free" because theprices here well cover them. That's one of the issues I have on the menu. Outstanding service and food! Drinks on point! Servers are amazing! I haven't ordered anything here in the past 20 years that... wasn't done to perfection! I highly recommend! Made the mistake of celebrating a very significant birthday at Les Cochons d'orinstead of celebrating here and truly regret that decision...this is by far the only place in the area that knows how to cookbeef! Great food, great staff, just off Rte. 29 north of Charlottesville; convenient to the wonderful Hampton Inn hotel. The best and... leanest prime rib I've ever had. Wait staff very attentive and wonderful. Baked potato and cheesecake for dessert also great. Worth every penny. Did not care for the fried potatoes, but that's a minor side dish. I went there for my Wedding Anniversary and it was an amazing meal. My family loved it and our waiter( who has been with the... Steakhouse since around 1991) was a great man. He always was attentive and was organized in the way he did his job. A veryfriendly atmosphere and I would definitely come again - Bravo!!! Read more

Came here for dinner on our anniversary. The service was excellent. Ordered escargot appetizer and was pleasantly surprised,... they were delicious and I definitely recommend. The barn fries are really good and they come with fixings like a baked potato.The cream spinach is okay, probably would try a different side next time.
