Umma?s has a rotating menu, and I?m not sure exactly what?s on it now as the last time I visited was in several weeks ago. That... being said, their Korean Fried Chicken is literally some of the best fried chicken I?ve ever had in my life. We are blessed tohave a restaurant this good in Charlottesville and I?ll definitely be returning as regularly as I can. Read more

We have gone to Umma?s several times and it is excellent each and every time. The quality of the food and the service will bring... you back again and again. The menu changes often and there?s always a new favorite to discover! Do yourself a favor and treatyourself to a fabulous meal at Umma?s. Tonight we had the tartare and the pear salad with pork belly and left with big smileson our faces! Can?t wait to go back next week. Read more

We went to Umma\'s for a friend\'s birthday dinner and sat outside. I was pleased to see the extent of masking on the staff and... the service was good. They use an online ordering system, but give hard copies of the menu, which was nice. However, the onlineordering was a little difficult to use. While it was nice that it recognized different payment parties at the same table, therewas confusion due to the user interface as to whether an item has been ordered and who was paying for what, which really isn\'tUmma\'s fault. However, it did result in a party member accidentally ordering two servings of the chicken wings, which was notreally a problem at all as they are delicious. I got the pork platter and was disappointed that the pork was rather dry and myside of rice, while texturally perfect, was room temperature when the table that was seated after us got steaming rice. Overall, everyone was pleased with the meal and the cocktails were also very good. I got the \'It Slaps\' which was a good size and verynice.\nI do wish that they\'d level the ground in the outdoor seating area, as it\'s uneven and leads to wobbling of chairs andtables. Read more

unagi chahan is super good! Beef tongue plate is great portion and veg is fresh.\nkaraage with honey garlic sauce is fantastic,... crisp skin with juicy chicken, so good! The cold noodles is okay but too light flavor, almost no salt at all. Yakisobu with beefbulgogi is too good to share! Read more

Growing up in NJ, and frequenting NY/Philly I have to admit I?ve had my fair share of food (I?m a huge foodie!) I have to say... this is as authentic as it gets. Japanese and Korean eats! The food is so fresh and sooo tasty!! One thing that is really neatis every few weeks they switch up their menu?s (with some signature staples remaining) - so it?s really fun to try new thingsand get a fresh take on lots of food combinations!\n\nI?m so incredibly excited about Umma?s opening permanently here in Cville! If you?re around cville and frequent the Saturday market at IX you?ve probably seen the huge line outside Basan?s Truck & MamaBirds tent and now anytime you?ll be able to experience this delicious food, almost anytime and not just on weekends (:\n\nThelate night menu is really neat as well! I?m SO stoked to have a cool and tasty late night place to grab food at! They also havea projector in their outside dining area and a switch to play games!\n\nI?ve recommend trying the bulgogi sandwich, spicy honeygarlic karaage, nori fries and of course some Kimchi. (Actually just tried Ramps Dongchimi here for the first time & I?mdefinitely going to get it again!)\n\nThe staff is so sweet too! Feels so welcoming & accepting here!\n\nI could go on forever,if you don?t believe me just try it for yourself (: Read more

Lovely experience. We got lunch on Saturday around 11 am and there were still many open tables inside. The inside area is quite... small. I like their online ordering system.\n\nAs for the food. Definitely the best Korean fried chicken in town. Crunchy andsavory. We tried a few banchun and they were all very good. The taiyaki?s wrapping was much thicker than what I hoped it to bebut the red bean filling was delicious. Very reasonably priced for their quality and portion size. Will definitely come back fortheir dinner menu and to pick up some jarred pickled vegetables from their retail fridge. Read more

Having just recently moved to Charlottesville from NYC, I find it extremely difficult to find good, if anything decent food in... this town. I can say confidently, if Umma?s were to open in NY or NJ, it would definitely get a crowd. This is my second timehere and they just opened yesterday. I had the bone marrow nanban, and The karaage. Boy oh boy. The bone marrow nanban isdefinitely my favorite and a interesting twist on bone marrow. It was rich, savory, sweet, but acidic as well. So well balanced. As for the karaage, it was fried to perfection covered in spicy honey garlic. I wished they included a side dip of the sauce, but that is okay. I can definitely see myself coming here again and again. Price and quality of food is well worth. Parking is abit of a pain, but that is normal for downtown. You can order vans pay via the QR code or pay up front and they deliver to yourtable. This review is posted only day 2 of opening. I will leave a follow up review in a few months to see if quality is see thesame or has fallen launch opening. Read more
