This place was packed when we arrived because it was lunch time and we waited for 35 mins. We seated outside and the food was... great. Our server is very friendly and accommodating. While on vacation in Chattanooga, our AirBnB host suggested 1885 as a place for dinner and I am so happy we decided to go! The... outdoor patio was so charming. The waitress was great at giving us recommendations. I ended up going with the 1885 Burger, andso happy I did. It was delicious! I got the rosemary fries for my side and they were to die for. My husband had the Saint ElmoClub which he really enjoyed! Highly recommend! Read more
This picture does not even begin to do justice to how absolutely amazing this burger was. Our first time at this restaurant. ... The 1885 burger caught my eye on the menu, and it did not disappoint. By far the absolute best burger I have ever had. 1/2 lb.house blend burger, pimento cheese, house made chow-chow, house-smoked beef bacon, fried tobacco onions, green leaf lettuce, andcreolnnaise. I ordered mine medium rare. It was cooked exactly as I asked. Char grilled smokey flavor. The beef bacon was asmoked beef brisket or something. A really tasty addition. The tobacco onions were this super crisp fried onions. The groundmeat was a perfectly juicy burger mix. One of the better tasting ground beef patties I have ever tasted. My daughter and wifeagreed. It was generous in size and quality for $15. We had the fried green tomatoes and the smoked salmon dip as appetizers.The fried green tomatoes were good, but the smoked salmon dip was really good. Sorry didn't get any pictures. My wife had theblackened trout which she really enjoyed. And my daughter had the shrimp and grits which she really enjoyed. All of the food wasamazing. Or server was really friendly and helpful when my wife had questions about the menu. The one negative experienceduring the evening was the time it took for our appetizer to be served. Two tables that were seated after we had already orderedwere done with their appetizers before we received ours. Stopped by this cute little restaurant that I pass by everyday. The outside seating seems to be always full, people outside... congregating, having a good time. Always to capacity, so something must be good, right? We did not have a reservation, but onlywaited 15 minutes. After being seated, Sierra our waitress, did a great job at serving. The atmosphere is laid back, food isgreat, and service is wonderful. Make sure to give this gem a try, you won?t be disappointed. Read more
Georgia or Tennessee? We aren't really sure but we were pleasantly surprised when we stumbled upon the 1885 restaurant for... dinner after a Google search because it is near Ruby Falls and Rock City. First, the restaurant had a lounge area with comfycouches to sit in while you wait. Second, we had a super knowledgeable waitress who did an amazing job helping us figure outwhat to order. Third, the food was amazing. Starting with delicious appetizers followed by an amazing main course. My 18 yearold son ordered the 1885 burger and was in awe at the flavor combination. We all had a great time and next time we pass throughthe Chattanooga area we will be sure to stop by here again. Read more
We heard great things about 1885. Even our waitress bragged about how much she loved the entire menu. Unfortunately, we were not... as enthusiastic. The fried green tomatoes were the best dish we got, but not our favorite version of this dish. The 1885 Burgerand Étouffée lacked flavor. While not a horrible experience, definitely didn?t live up to the hype. Read more
Wonderful date night experience! We had a sweet server that took amazing care of us! Our food was to die for we will definitely... return! My husband had NC Rainbow trout is was delicious. I had the shrimp and crawfish etouffee Cajun style also verydelicious. For appetizer we had smoked salmon dip the flavor was so rich! My husband and I had a fantastic Sunday lunch. They were very attentive and accommodating of my dairy allergy. I had the Gumbo,... without rice, and a burger with their rosemary fries. Both were excellent. My husband had their club. We would love to return. Read more
