FANTASTIC pizza and Mojito, the best pizza I've had in a long time! Lovely ladies serving as well. 5 of 5 for sure!

This is my last effort to get my concerns across to the management team at sawmill. My family and I are incredibly disappointed... at the downward spiral this restaurant has taken over the years. We have been going there and ordering out for 6 years and thecustomer service has become terrible. They do not care about their customers. We have given them countless chances to make rightand they keep disappointing. The last straw - I called to make a takeout order and was put on hold for quite some time. I wastold the person had to ?deal? with the people at the door. When the person came back, she took my order. She then put me on holdagain to check with the kitchen on timing. When she came back, she told me the kitchen said no we will not make your order.Seriously?!! This is absolutely horrendous customer service to make someone sit on hold, place an order and tell them after thefact you won?t make the order. I have three young children to feed and this restaurant is of the impression that their time ismore valuable then the customer. This is not the first time we?ve had an issue similar to this. They have charged us for food wedidn?t get, they have given us wrong food twice, they?ve made us stand in the snow waiting in line to pick up take out which wasfreezing cold by the time we finally got it. They don?t return phone calls when you do have an issue. We loved this restaurantwhen they opened which is why we?ve given them so many chances. We?ve given our support to this business for years, treated thestaff well and have not been treated well in return. Again, we are so disappointed and I genuinely hope they can get ittogether. I believe the only reason they are still in business is because there are very few options in Chemainus. Friends andfamily all say the same thing and many have stopped going already. A very difficult review to write but I feel was necessary atthis point. Read more

Very nice spot. We insisted mid afternoon so not a lot of patrons. Had some craft beer ( they have soooo many) along with... shareable smoked meatballs and chili prawns. So good!! Looks like the ambiance is great for dinners with the decor andlighting. Bartender was very friendly. Read more

Was long overdue to visit again and it was just as amazing as I remembered! We shared thr fry bread and pesto dip before our... pizzas. SOO delish. Solid menu additions from the last time I visited! Read more

The Salt and Cumin wings were a good twist for Chicken Wings. The fish tacos and chowder were good. The kids Grilled Cheese is... great if the littles love LOTS of cheese. The kids pizza was pretty good. Service was good. Read more

We like searching out new places on Vancouver Island that support the craft brewing industry and so we decided to take a small... detour off the highway to Victoria and visit Sawmill Taphouse & Grill in Chemainus. We visited early afternoon for a late lunchand we were very happy with our decision to stop. The restaurant area is quite large and it has an outdoor patio as well. Theceilings are high and the décor is very nice and I think at night when the lights are turned on it would look quite cozy withall the wood paneling. There is parking down below in the mall parking lot but I recommend parking on the street up above atrestaurant level to avoid climbing stairs. If entering on that level the restaurant is fully accessible. The menu is diverseand quite large and my husband and I were very pleased with our food. He enjoyed the fish tacos and I had pulled pork in a bunwith fries and a salad. Everything was delicious, the portions were a good size, plated nicely and priced reasonably. Thedrinks menu was very nicely laid out by categories with explanations about styles and you could order sampler flights of beer,wine and cider which was very nice. The craft beer selection was good supporting local BC & Vancouver Island Breweries. Everything considered, this is a restaurant that we know we will return to and will be recommending to friends. Pricey for what you get, but still pretty good. There were a few deviations from "normal" pub food, which was greatly... appreciated. Complex flavours in the burgers... The 50/50 burger was deeper than expected, but the biggest surprise was theside salad with a delicious honey vinaigrette. Stellar. Service was disappointing, not living up to the classy ambience of thegastropub. Simple quality checks would have made a difference. Smiles are free to give as well as receive! Great placethough.
