I just wrote a long review and my screen went blank. This is a five-star eating establishment with quality food, service, and... prices. Margarita and Hector, the owners, are very loving, kind, and caring people who truly care about making sure theircustomers have a fabulous experience and the food is great!! I miss dining at Alvarez since I no longer live in the area. Thefood is excellent and I refer people there all the time. Some of my favorites were: Cheese Enchiladas QuesoFundido Carnitas Tacos I miss Margarita and Hector very much. They treated me and my family like their own. Read more

Alvarez is a neighborhood restaurant down here in Cherry Valley. My wife and I and family have been eating there for over twenty... years. Don't eat out much anymore but we decided to treat ourselves today. Same friendly waitress, same stress free atmosphere.Even saw some old friends from the village we hadn't seen for years. I've always been a fan of chillies rellenos. I have triedthem at pretty much every Mexican restaurant I've been to but none are as good as Alvarez. We went to eat between lunch and dinner time, but I am pretty sure people don't normally come here for the food. It is set up... for a dance club. But...they SHOULD come for the food! The rice and beans were pretty good. The carnitas and beef were slowcooked forever and really nicely flavored. The steak was sooooo tender. The shrimp was not overcooked. All of the grilled meatswere just really good. You get a LOT of sourcream with your food, if that's what you're into. The salsa was really mild, but thegreen one tastes like jalapenos and is a tiny bit spicy. The staff was great. I believe that they were probably the owners andthe cooks. Go! Read more

The food was very salty, and dry, the rice also had no flavor. The taco meat tasted like it was expired i couldnt force myself... to take a second bite. The whole meal was extremely overpriced for the quality and not to mention the bad service. Read more

This is a very very simple menu. Nothing flashy or fancy. My only issue is that I found the salsa with the chips a tad... off-putting but it was still very good just was not what I was expecting and the seasoning to be a bit light but that is just myown personal taste as I love a good kick to my food. That being said that's why I give this 4 stars. I had the mole and thatwas very tasty as well as a margarita. Everything was perfect for my meal. Definitely worth a try if you have never had itbefore. Read more
