Vegetarian lovers can rejoice that this modern Caribbean cuisine offer plenty of vegetarian options. An absolute favorite to... order from any Latin American restaurant is maduros (sweet plantains). This place offers delicious tender maduros with a niceburnt crisp edge (not overly burnt like some other places) with sofrito aioli. This hidden gem makes the BEST avocado fries! Thebattered coating has lots of nice subtle flavors which is a perfect balance to the neutral avocado taste. These fried perfectlycrisp while inside is fresh avocado and just soft enough. Note: it is not listed on the menu in the restaurant but might soonshow up there. There is several vegetarian option listed online that is not shown in restaurant which you can order. Also, recommend El Flor bowl, filled with cauliflower, greens, Caribbean slaw (purple cabbage), black beans, pickled onions, greenrice, and avocado lime cream dressing. Lastly, it is a must to order their desserts. We loved their pistachio rum cake! It issuper moist, fluffy and light. Read more

The food here is fresh and well presented. Friendly staff, make sure you don?t bring cash! I wasn?t particularly impressed by... either of our meals. For me, the bowl needed more meat and less rice/beans. The rice was flavored in a way that didn?t seem tosuit the whole of the dish. But the plantains were delicious, and the location is nice. We?ve ordered takeout from Ajo a couple times now, and absolutely love it. The flavors are fresh, and it feels like a healthier... alternative to many quick takeout restaurants. I always order a custom bowl, and I love how the flavors and textures work sowell together. We?ve also ordered the avocado fries and the fried plantains. The avocado fries were good, but didn?t quite liveup to the rest of the meal. The fried plantains are almost magical. Read more

New place in the neighborhood wanted to check them out. Can?t help but think about Chipotle and it?s bowls when you come in and... look at the menu. The menu lets you build your own or try preselected dishes. Tried the Ajo-aji it was vegan plate, chickpeasin a spicy tomato sauce, the peas were a little hard. Could of been stewed a bit longer, the corn had a butter and cheese taste, the green rice was good. I also tried the jerk chicken bowl, had a great taste, the spicy serving was not that spicy so Irecommend it. It came with beans and bacon which reminds me of frijoles rancheros. I also tried the Mojo-rico, the steak wasvery tender and marinated just right. The plantains were delicious. They all come with salted plantain chips. Overall it wasgood, I really liked the contrasting flavors all in one dish. Spooning in the pineapple slaw and then a forkfull of jerk chickenreally sets the taste buds off. Place has limited seating, so it?s better to order and go. Read more
