Delicious pizza with options of thin or stuffed, sold by the slice or whole pizzas. No frills, small dining area. We ate in, but... most people carried out. It does take 45 minutes for stuffed pizza if you don't order ahead. They do not yet offer a gluten freecrust. As with any place in the city, parking is tight, but there are nearby parking garages. Absolutely loved this place ! I had a deep dish basic pizza slice and came back for a deep dish pepperoni pizza the next day! I... wanted to try a deep dish since its a specialty of Chicago but as a solo traveler I didn't want to buy a full pizza. Will comeback when visiting Chicago again! Read more
Very disappointing pizza for all styles - thin, pan and stuffed. The flour and subsequent dough is average at best - no... airiness to the crust, and the top half was almost raw. The mozzarella is bulk yellow style. Overall just a poor pizza - notartistic at all. Read more
Excellent deep dish/stuffed Chicago-style pizza. Visiting from out of town, had Lou Malnatti’s earlier in the week, which was... not bad at all. But this was ideal Chicago-style pizza, couldn’t have asked for better. Great job! Read more
HANDS DOWN THE BEST DEEP DISH I’VE EVER HAD!!! So I was visiting Chicago with a friend, just got out of yoga down the street,... saw this place and went in. There was a line (a good sign!) for takeout. I just wanted to order a couple slices, didn’t want awhole pizza. They had slices available. Great! They carried different types of deep dish as well. I got one with veggies, myfriend asked for a regular one. Yass okay now we’re rolling. I asked for some pepper and cheese packets, they obliged. When Igot back to the air bnb and we began to eat, we looked at each other with tears in our eyes and cried. Literally the BEST pizzaever was in our hands, and now being stuffed in our faces. The sauce was tasty, the dough was crunchy but soft, the cheesemelted in your mouth. Absolute perfection. I will NEVER forget this pizzeria, I dream about it, I want to marry it, I want tomake little pizzarias with it. GO! Go now and try the pizza! I don’t have a lot of experience with deep dish pizza but I certainly have eaten pizza across the US. This rival the best NY... style pizza or any gourmet pizza out there! The sauce is EXCELLENT, sweet and plentiful! The cheese is stringy and FULL withfavors! The entire slide is just bursting with awesome, mouth watering, taste bud attacking aroma! And there are plenty to goaround, each bite is full and just SOOOO satisfying! Now to be honest, the cheesecake isn’t the best. It is still good,particularly after the hint of pizza taste still whirling around in my mouth, the sweet taste really pop! But are there bettercheesecake out there? Yes plenty, but if you are just looking for something sweet to round out your night, this will do. Read more
It is my favorite Wholesome Chicago style Deep Dish pizzeria. A great neighborhood place if you are a no nonsense, anti-chain... restaurant kind of foodie! Order your 10 inch Supreme (sausage, pepper, onion cheese) deep dish about 45 mins in advance, comesit down and relax, eat fresh pizza! Art of Pizza on State Street is a small whole in the wall place for both grabbing a sliceto go or doing your Chicago deep dish experience dining in. I love how they put a lot fresh tomato sauce on top and the portionsare so generous! 1 slice or 1.5 slice will make you full. The 10 inch pie comes with 6 slices. Read more
Pizza place on state that has always had a crowd inside but as many times as I walked by, I’ve never gone in. It wasn’t... until I smelled the most amazing smell as I was walking by and I was drawn in. They have 3 pizza styles available to you —thin, deep dish, and thick crust pizza. I ended up ordering the deep dish and the pizza dough that Art of Pizza uses is by farthe best dough I’ve ever had. So tasty and a single slice was like $5. Great price for very tasty pizza!!
