The view is really the main appeal of this restaurant. The food was OK. The thing that bothered me the most was how they use... plastic everything. Plastic cups, plastic straws, plastic plates, and paper napkins that are flying everywhere. Would be nice ifthey would use reusable cutlery and dinnerware, Especially being so close to the beach. Till last Sunday, that was my favorite place for drinks & food. This time we got Matthew M. as our server who was rude? he... wouldn?t even let us finish our order, he ran to the kitchen to place it. Of course we did not get what we wanted, so they tookthe food back to fix it? haha jokes on us, my friend still got her order wrong, mine never came. Bree was amazing and so accommodating. Made great recommendations on foods and drinks and let me get pita bread instead of chips... because I have braces. You can tell the servers have fun working here and it's just a good vibe overlooking the beach. Read more

One of my newest favorite places in Chicago! The view is gorgeous, makes you feel like you?re on a beach, on the ocean, in... Florida and not on the lake in Chicago haha. Castaways is only 1 outdoor experience at North Avenue beach in Chicago. You will be able to play volleyball, checkers, kayak,... jet ski, build sand castles, watch the sailboats, swim, snorkel, ride bikes or ped taxi's, get a tan or hide under sun tents, orhave a rooftop beer and burger at Castaways. Handicap accessible. The air and water show weekend draws up to two millionobservers. Go early using public transportation. Read more
We ate at the lower level with just walk up service. They kept the change from my purchase. They have a cardboard sign saying... you have to use exact change. For example our meal was $31.26 I gave them $35 they have me $3 back. Not sure if this is a newpolicy or the employees are on the take. I will say the steak tacos are good. Read more
