I was pleasantly surprised by everything at El Cid the first time I went in July. Been back twice since and lived up to the... first experience: consistently high quality, excellent and pleasant service, great setting in the sun out front or out back ontheir "hidden gem" of a patio as others have said, and reasonable prices. The staff even went out of their way to make a spicypremium margarita for us, which wasnt on the menu. Most importantly, the tacos (and the rice n beans) were excellent, way aboveaverage. Big fan. I’ve eaten here and been pretty happy for the most part but disappointed in my most recent experience because although I... ordered a large Caldo de Res, 75% was liquid and the other 25% was of made of 2 pieces of potato, one small piece of corn and 4pieces of meat. I called to make let them know and they reassured me it’s how they portion out the soup. At $12, I expectedthe ratio to be fair. They also forgot my tortillas. Good thing I ordered a side of rice. Last night I made a stop at @elcidchicago in Logan Square for great Mexican food and margaritas on one of the nicest patios in... the city. The patio is definitely the star of the show. Cute kitschy signs everywhere, colorful flags playfully hungoverheard, and the array of colors in decor you might expect from a place like this. And while the patio was undoubtedly myfavorite thing about El Cid, the food and margs didn't disappoint either. The strawberry house margaritas were amazing and wentdown like water and I quickly made three of them disappear, while trying to relieve my mouth of the fire from the hotter oftheir two sauces. The queso fundido was incredible and served with probably the warmest tortillas I've ever had, with deliciouschorizo and not overly greasy, which can be a problem with queso fundido at times. For my main I went with a simply butdeliciously prepared steak chimichanga served with guacamole and a healthy side of sour cream. All of the food and drinks werefantastic and the vibe really can't be beat, so definitely check out El Cid in Logan Square. You won't regret it. ???????????? Read more
All of the food was excellent, we got the chicken flautas and enchiladas suizas. Even the salsas were good, with fresh fried... tortilla chips. Besides great food, the staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was really nice, with a hidden back patio. Read more
