Yes! Yes! Yes! Some of the best Ethiopian food I've had. Chill atmosphere and good people too. I had the vegetarian sample... platter (I'm not vegetarian) and I didn't miss the meat! All of it was so flavorful, well seasoned and just enough. Read more

I worked in Ethiopia off and on for two years, and in between, I would bring people to Ethiopian Diamond to share the experience... with friends in Chicago. The food here is great, the atmosphere is laid back, and the large dining room feels inviting to me.This visit we started off with a small coffee pot, which they served with small cups and some sugar. We ordered some sambusasavory pastries, two filled with meats and one with veggies and one with lentils as an appetizer. Then we had the meat samplerplate, which came with 3 meats and 3 vegetarian offerings in a platter of the injera bread, and a platter of four more rolledinjera. There was some salad in the middle of the platter too. Everything tasted great, the service was quiet and prompt, withfrequent water fills since we stayed a long time given they weren't busy. We had the Tibs sampler and Meat Sampler. Everything was really tasty. Remember, you need to eat with your hands here. The place... looked understaffed though, and it did take some time for the food to arrive. Spacious place with nice speedy service. Food is great, served on big plates/trays. Interesting thing...you will be eating... with your hands ..not an easy thing but worth trying. Decoration on walls is trying to get you a little feel of Ethiopia. Read more
