I don't write this lightly, and several poor experiences over many years at Fountainhead have contributed to our review. It's... just one of those places that a majority of people love, but we always seem to have some sort of issue. And the food, service,and prices are way out of alignment with each other that we just can't think Fountainhead is on its game. Most recently, Iwent in at about 5:15pm on a Tuesday and was happy that it wasn't crowded and there were plenty of open tables. I requested atable for two and was led to the dreaded table next to the bathroom, so I asked if we could just sit at the bar (which had 4other people at it) and was given the thumbs up. I sat at the bar for a full 15 minutes and not once did anyone acknowledge me,bring a water, ask if I wanted anything, or do anything to make me believe this is the pub environment they are trying tocreate. After *15 minutes* of no contact with an employee, my wife and I simply had to throw in the towel and go elsewhere tofind some dinner and drinks. Sad and unprofessional, but I truly hope your experiences are not as consistently disappointing asours has been over the years. A few more examples - aside from the unorganized chaos that is trying to get a table in therooftop area, my wife had a craving for fish & chips. Our waitress told us that we couldn't order them upstairs and that we'dhave to get back in line for a table downstairs for that. She saw the puzzled look on our faces and said, 'if you really wantfish & chips, I'd recommend that you go to Duke of Perth". Agreed, Duke of Perth has some of the best in town, but WOW! When thestaff doesn't like your food, that's a RED FLAG! One weekend for brunch, with lots of our family in town, we took a group ofabout 8 to Fountainhead and were happy it wasn't packed to the gills. We met another couple for drinks at Fountain Head around 10pm on a Saturday. They place was full but we had no problem getting s... table. There hostess greeted is with a smile and seated us. Cat our server showed up within a min to get a drink order and waterarrived the same time. This place has an incredible cocktail, beer and whiskey selection. Seriously good. We did not eat socan't speak to that but I saw plenty of people ordering and devouring they plates so assumed it is great. Read more
Been going here for a while, the alcohol selection is unmatched. Staff is really friendly, and prices are reasonable. The deck... is also excellent when it's open. A great bar, highly recommend. Read more
Went here on a cold Chicago winter evening and the atmosphere was very cozy. Drink selection is plentiful and the food was... GREAT! We had the cheese curds to start and would for sure have them again. We ordered the veg & meat pies and they weredelicious - the pie crust was perfectly seasoned and the fillings were well balanced and served with a great sauce on the side.I also appreciate how the staff explained various components of the dishes. Can't wait to come back here in the summer for arooftop dining experience! Read more
This place had a cool rooftop bar where we could have a drink, enjoy the weather, but still stay in the shade. Tasty small... plates too! Read more
