small and cute ramen place in river north with great service. i ordered the fried tofu baos and spicy miso veggie ramen. the... baos were great and superrr soft though the tofu could've used a little more flavor. the ramen was solid too-- it contained ricenoodles instead of traditional ramen which was an interesting twist. the broth was solid and fragrant, but could have been moreflavorful. overall, the prices weren't too bad either especially for the river north area. We were obsessed with this place and was one of our favorite places in Chicago! Ramen was a little overpriced for the size but... was very tasty and appetizers were so yummy as well! The restaurant is small with only a few tables but had a very cozy vibe toit. Read more

Really cool idea to offer small-plate Asian food!! Every item we ordered was delicious--not the best version we had in our lives... but good enough for two hungry people. The servers are very friendly and quick to help. We also liked the environment: the smallplace has the coziness of your neighborhood diner and not too dark for a ramen place. Would definitely visit again. Read more

Had a bit of trouble finding the place, GPS put us in front of a Sushi bar. We just had to go around the side to get to Friends... Ramen. Cozy is the first word that comes to mind. Seriously! The tables are small, would be a bit cramped for four. But thefood was worth it! FYI, small bowl is about as big as an extra large coffee mug, large is about three times the size. Also, itwas spicy - not off the wall, but enough to get your nose running! Nice atmosphere, could definitely see coming in during offpeak hours and just hang out. I had the veggie tofu, my friend got the spicy veggie tofu; we shared an order of tofu buns. Notmeat eaters so can't speak to that portion of the menu. Would recommend checking it out. Read more

Ambience is really cool, reminiscent of japanese bars. Unfortunately I was not so moved by the ramen.. the other dishes were... alright, but the ramen was so.. lacking. The noodles weren't chewy, just broke apart and didn't carry enough of the soup, thebroth was too light and had an odd sweetness to it, and the pork wasn't as soft as it should be.. Read more

Stopped in for a quick lunch and this small spot did not disappoint. I ordered Pork Belly Buns ($8) and Karaage Chicken Bowl... ($8). Both were delicious and flavorful and had great presentation but I feel like the portion sizes were not up to the pricepoint point. The food came out incredibly fast for the excellent quality of the food. This place is small, but beautifullydesigned and in a great location situated across the street from the Chicago Red Line as well as the brand new One Chicagodevelopment and near many of the downtown University campuses in Streeterville. It's probably a hit for tourists and studentslooking to get a quick bite. If you're looking for more of a bang for your buck, there are other, cheaper options for goodJapanese food in the area. I just love the vibe of this place. I would sit here at 2am eating ramen if they'd let me. The spicy miso bowl packed a... flavorful punch. The spicy edamame was a great choice as a starter. PRO TIP: Instead of a large bowl, get two different smallbowls. Read more

Ramen was delicious I got the Spicy Miso w/egg noodles and pork belly. The broth was a 4/5 and the noodles were a perfect 5/5.... Very cozy atmosphere. Not a good place for large groups. They serve alcohol and hot tea so it's the perfect place to warm up inbad weather. Read more
