Upon walking into Johnnys I had some immediate concerns. $17 for 2 hotdogs fries and a drink, $18 for a Italian beef fries and... drink. Whatever happened to $5 hotdog and fries in this city? I get the area is high rent so fine I?m already there. I order aItalian beef combo. The fries were good and they served a good portion but the beef had issues. I love a good burger. However, the Big Daddy Burger was not it. This is their signature burger which includes the patties, gyro... meat onions, and an option of either one or both BBQ sauce and Tzatziki sauce. The burger patties had no flavor. All you get isa bunch of flavorless patties and some regular gyro meat ( those were decent) and all of them covered with way too much of thesauce or sauces that you ask for. The vanilla shake was alright but nothing to talk about any further. Tried it once, won't begoing again. If I'm having something like this, it better be worth the calories. This place was not! One of the best if not the best gryo?s in Chicago. It?s $17 or so for their gyro platter(which sounds expensive for a gyro) but... WELL worth it. Not to mention their staff has great hospitality. I?ve been there only a few times so they don?t recognize me asa regular. I stopped by tonight and asked them for a platter with no pita, extra onions. The owner (I presume) said ?sinceyou?re not getting the pita bread, would you like anything else to sub out free of charge?? I didn?t want anything else really,but it?s the thought that counts.
