Reviews for Lao Yunnan in Chicago, IL
Great authentic Chinese food. Come here often and always friendly. Highly recommend.
We had the worst experience here. I would have given it 0 stars but it doesn?t allow for it on this platform. My friend and I... came in and ordered a hot pot; it took 20 minutes for the person to come around and take our order and then we waited over anhour to actually receive our hot pot. We came here because my friend?s family really liked their food. So we figured we wouldtry it and see how it was. After we were waiting at this table for a good 45 minutes, the server moved us to a different table, and put down the fish and vegetable tray and then left that for another 10-15 minutes without the hot pot or the water bowl.Once the other parts of the food came, the beef, water/bowl and the seasoning, the seasoning was out of containers that lookedlike they were served to another customer and reused. By this time, we were so hungry that we just decided to stay. While wewere sitting, two gentlemen came in and was attended by the server, and received their hot pot within 15 minutes. We wondered ifthis was because we weren?t Asian, which is something that I never ask; however, this is an instance that made no sense to mewhatsoever. By ordering the hot pot, it is supposed to be all you can eat; however, after the server came to deliver the beef,water/bowl and seasoning, they didn?t come back to check up on us and we had to walk up and ask every single time. Once itreached almost a two hour mark, we had been waiting for the extra vegetables and beef for almost 25 minutes. At this point, wejust paid and left because we were so disappointed and dissatisfied with the food and service. There?s no reason why two peoplebuying a hot pot and paying for two hot pots should be hungry after being there for over two hours. It was ridiculous and thereare many better places to eat in Chinatown and in this city. Read more
The ayce spicy hotpot is very good. It's not that spicy but i recommend having the double soup base. Very good value for the... price. Very honest restaurant without the bells and whistles with very good food. Will come back and try the very specialtraditional dishes like cross-bridge-noodles or jumping spare ribs. Read more
Great hot pot! The beef and lamb were nice and thin, but super flavorful and not excessively fatty! The veggies were all fresh... and the shrimp was jumbo! Only downside was you don't get more than 1 refill of shrimp. Read more
