really good establishment in the Gold Coast area of Chicago. We stayed at Waldorf Astoria which is a quick 3 min walk. Le Colonial was a wonderful experience from beginning to end. Our service was very attentive and we enjoyed a nice evening with... some fantastic appetizers and entrees. We ordered the chicken dumpling, pork and shrimp rolls for appetizers which werephenomenal. We ordered the chicken ban xeo and chicken curry which was wholesome and delicious. I've been here several times before. I always like the apps here. They are flavorful and refreshing. The ambiance of the entire restaurant was phenomenal. The staff was friendly when we requested to change our reservation. We... were well fed and taken care of. Each room of the establishment has its own flavorful touch. I ordered fried rice and tried thefried shrimp rolls along with many other samples off of friends plates— I couldn’t resist. Be transported to the streets of Hanoi on Chicago’s Oak street. Dining at Le Colonial reminded me so much of the Metropole... Legend hotel in Hanoi, and the flavours and dishes were perfectly north Vietnamese. Really excellent food & good service. Thedecor is authentic without being touristy. Decent experience overall but food was a bit lacking given the price. Beautiful setting overlooking oak street and good... service. Really enjoyed the monkfish and the shaking beef. Good light yet bold and balanced flavors. Despite that, I’ve hadbetter for lower prices. All the other dishes were just fine. Definitely beautiful presentation but unfortunately foodcouldn’t keep up! What a happy surprise to find this Vietnamese and French fusion restaurant ain’t the oak street which is know for all the... luxury fashion brands. I’ve only heard great words so far about this place, at the same time, I think I had enough informationabout what I must order for the first time. We were asked to show the proof of full vaccination before they let us entered therestaurant. It ensures safety. Shoutout to all t restaurants that took COVID seriously! We got shrimp on sugar cane, redsnapper, half toasted duck, and banana mango tapioca pudding. They were all AMAZING! Shrimp on sugar cane was refreshing assugar cane adds lightly sweetness to the freshly fried shrimp stick. Red snapper is cooked crispy outside, and tensor inside,with the perfect sweet chilly sauce, which has a kick but not too overwhelming. The roast duck is just too tasty to be enoughfor myself, and the sticky rice that came with it was the best I’ve ever had. And finally the pudding was just a delight tohave to end the already perfect meal. We had a very wonderful time here. The staffs were friendly, and the ambiance was calmand relaxing. A foodies dream come true. The food was divine, the service was first class, and the ambience ties it all together to make a... truly memorable experience. The attention to detail paid by the staff is something that many other places have lost, but nothere. Thoughtful recommendations, friendly smiles, and helpful guidance to the restroom just to name a few. The decor takes youback to a time when Negronis and smoking jackets were in everyone's vocabulary. The food exceeded all of our expectations. Read more
