I was excited to find this ramen shop.. hoping for real authentic ramen... I ordered their takoyaki and goku tan tan men... (spicy)... takoyaki was ok but their tan tan men was delicious.. the noodles are springy and chewy.. so if you prefer yournoodles softer, make sure to ask them to boil it longer.. The reason for the 4-star is because I was so thirsty after the meal. This is usually a sign that the food contains lots of msg (to me at least)... so just beware when you visit... The sign of this store is not visible so you should be looking for #2207 when you are trying to locate it instead of the store... name. The seating will not make introvert feel awkward since there are small cells separated from each other and thus offeredsome privacy. On a Friday night, the restaurant was very empty and quiet. The local ginger beer was having a bold ginger flavourand non alcoholic. The spicy miso ramen was not too hard or too soft, like the pork belly there- generally lean with a smallproportion of fat which you can easily remove. The broth was rich in flavour but will not make you thirsty. Attentive and notoverly welcoming staff. this is such a cute little place ! reservations not accepted but they turnaround tables pretty quickly, spoke on the phone and... the hostess said she would be able to seat us in 30 mins, arrived there and after just a 5 mins wait got seated quiteefficiently.. We ordered the Maitake Mushrooms as an app to go with our drinks and the Goku Tan Tan Men Ramen (has a kick, notfor the faint hearted) with the Ajitame egg add on (would have liked 2 halves instead of just a half please) for themains, washrooms were very well maintained and clean.. no dessert unfortunately ???? but overall we had a lovely evening withgreat attentive service ! So delicious! It's easy to miss this tiny spot if you're not looking for it... but totally worth the search. We tried a few... things and loved them all - fried chicken buns, a mini chicken char siu rice bowl, and the Modern Shoyu Ramen bowl. Noods we?re perfect. I?ve had the Modern Shoyu and went back the following week for Goku Tonkotsu. My man had the spicy ramen.... All were great! As well as deliciously crafted cocktails. Recently switched to gluten-free and kindly asking? Can you pleasehave a gluten-free noodle? Read more
Enjoy the small plate of squid. Really good size small dishes. I love the add-on options for ramen and of course the Ramen!! We... loved the atmosphere, music, not a loud place. Small and cozy. Wow! Absolutely PHENOMENAL!!!! Been living in Chicago all my life and never knew they were here! Their signature Ramen ???? is... ????????????. We added the egg for $1 and wow...there is this numbing spice in there that makes your water taste like it's fromanother world. I can't explain it here and you just have to experience it for yourself. I asked the owner what was in there thatchanged my palate and made the water taste so cool and he told me! Wow!
