Osteria Del Pastaio was just as good as the last time I went. Great service. You do have to pay for water, and it is the Italian... still water. Food was exceptionally delicious, and the portions on the pasta were large. I skipped on true cheese wheel pasta, and I promise you that getting the osetra caviar white truffle pasta is going to knock your socks off. Read more

There a lot of high end restaurants in the Gold Coats/River North area of Chicago. This is one of them that’s also low key... so you might miss it, but you shouldn’t. First, the food is great. They have a decent size menu with some good traditionalItalian dishes along with some trendy favorites. The evening the went I ordered the meatballs as an appetizer, cacio e pepe andbucatini carbonara as mains and their magic cake for dessert. The pasta was cooked al dente and the sauces were delicious. Thecacio e pepe especially had a great taste. While I think I should have ordered the tiramisu for dessert, the magic cake wasgood too. Second, I loved the vibes. Yes this is a pricey restaurant is the Good Coast, but the vibes felt laid back. The noselevel was low and the customers were diverse. I saw everything from an older married couple to a young couple on a date to agroup a businessmen dining that evening. Third it’s a good value. No it’s “cheap”, but portions are a good size. Forunder $100.00 (before tip), I ordered one appetizer, two pasta dishes, two glasses of wine and one dessert. For the Gold CoastI think that pretty good. Fourth, they have a great wine list. Next time you’re in the Gold Coast skip the trendy places andgive this place a try. Read more
