Came here first time to try out their Hell Ramen because a friend of mine told me if I like spicy this is the ramen to get. I... got the level 3 and from someone who is attune to spicy food because of my Thai pallet, level 3 just hits the spot. But I couldhave easily done level 4 as well so next time I will be going for level 4 for sure. As for the broth the clams and the groundpork pairs well with its umami seafoody broth with a hit of sourness from the pickled veggies. The pork rinds with the freshwoodear mushroom and sprouts adds an extra crunch to the ramen. Would come back to try their other flavor for sure. Read more

My favorite part of traveling to a big city is the fact that they have so many culinary options! My home in Central KY doesn't... have any authentic ramen shops. This tiny shop was just what I imagine you would find walking down an alley in Tokyo. The menuhad several options to choose from and everything sounded delicious. The service was efficient and though it was a tight space, there was room to eat without sitting on top of your neighbor. Three of us ate for under $50, all with water to drink. Thelarge portions of steaming ramen were perfect for lunch on a crisp, fall day. Read more

Quick and fast service for some very delicious and tasty ramen. The service was great and waiter was very attentive. The decor... was nice but if you like your space, might want to take this to go. It's pretty crammed and really tight seating but i didn'tmind it. The only disturbing thing was the timer they have in the kitchen going off every couple minutes. Read more

It was good but not the best rated spot in China town. The lady said a 2 spice was going to be hot and it wasn?t :/ I should?ve... got the 4 but oh well. The meat was good though. A bit hot in the restaurant unfortunately. Need better AC or some fans. Theywere also wearing masks and it?s September 2022! COVID is over people. Oh well that?s just life. For me I couldn?t hear a singleword she was saying. Very irritating ??????? Read more

There are no beef and chicken options for ramen, so I went with the chicken dumplings and they were quite tasty. The milk tea is... also excellent. The prices are also quite decent. I enjoyed the meal overall despite the limited meat options. Read more

A nicely decorated, chill ramen shop in the Chicago Chinatown area that serves just alright ramen. I wasn't too impressed by the... broth and the noodles were alright. Food Coming to Chicago for the first time and trying all kinds of burgers amd steaks leftme craving some asian food. And ramen is one of my favorite. Compared to other ramen that I've had, Strings was a below averagespot for me. I wanted to go all out and got the Super Premium tonkotsu ramen. The Super Premium has kamp while the Premium doesnot. The noodles were okay, but the broth was not very good. The broth wasn't as rich as I expected for a tonkotsu and watereddown. Atmosphere Casual and a great spot for just hanging out! The inside looks very Asian with the lanterns hanging from theceiling and the wooden tables and chairs are a nice touch. Pricing Pretty expensive for average to below average ramen (mineSuper Premium was about $21), but not sure if this is standard ramen prices in Chicago... I've had better ramen for $5 less perbowl in the Seattle area. Service Service was good and the server was very nice. We had the option to either sit indoors oroutdoors but given that it was a sunny day we went for outdoors! Other Looks like mostly street parking around here Read more

If you are a person that is a larger than a size medium, you are going to have issues sitting inside. ** (read below) For our 7... year anniversary we decided to try out strings. This restaurant was completely new to us as we have only been to very few inChinatown. The chicken dumplings were really good. I definitely recommend those if you do decide to give this place a try. Bothmy husband and I originally planned on trying out Ramen as neither of us have had authentic Ramen. However I ended up going withthe meat lovers Rice Bowl as it was the only menu item that I could justify paying the price for. The chicharrones, or porkskins, are definitely from a bag. I like fried pork skins. I just thought they would be fresh. The meats were all flavorednicely. My husband ended up getting to the Hell Ramen Level 1. There was no heat (spice) for either of us. He also didnt likethe texture of the baby oysters in the ramen. So if you go here to try this for heat, I would reccomend a different level. Evenafter adding the red pepper flakes in oil that is provided on the table, there was no heat. Service is ok. We got water & apitcher. So it was nice to be able to refill ourselves without asking. There's a QR code on the table to pull up the menu. Weopted out of dessert. ** there are a couple booths to accommodate larger people however when we visited this location, we wereoffered a tiny corner table surrounded by a bunch of strangers. The table we were offered would not have sat us comfortably. Wewere sat at the opposite end of the tables. However we took up two full tables that were set to seat 6. If we sat in the orginalcorner we were offered, me and a stranger would have been sitting uncomfortably and touching. The people at the booths did notrotate out at all while we were there (1.5hr). Excellent Chinatown ramen shop. I found the prices to be very reasonable and still quality was very high. Staff was nice and... very knowledgeable of the menu. The ramen itself was fantastic. I think I would have preferred more noodles, but otherwise verygood. Read more
