Tasty egg tarts. I haven't had many Portuguese style egg tarts, but I'm in love with these. The egg custard inside a flakey... pastry, almost like a buttery croissant. Read more

I LOVE the bakery at Fat Rice. It?s a chinese portugese bakery. If you are looking for a croissant at this bakery, you come to a... wrong place. They serve traditional chinese/portugese breads with a twist. What I like about this bakery is they modernize thetraditional chinese bakery. It?s like chinese bakery 2.0. My favorite ones are the bbq pork bun and the portugese egg tart. TheHongKong milk tea is very good; it tastes like the traditional HK milk tea that you can find in Chinatown. My only complainthere is the price is quite high, I can easily spend $40 here just for breads. But, what can I say... you pay for quality???? Overall: Menu: 5stars Price: $ Food: 5stars Service: 4stars Highly recommend the bakery! Read more

Asian fare, but not the cuisine that most Americans are familiar with. Pinchos are Portuguese tapas, and are featured here at... this Macau-ese inspired establishment. If it seems like a mix of cultures that's because it is, but you should be in for aninteresting experience in you just relax and enjoy. Read more

So my friends and I tried almost everything- hence all the pictures. I love this place!! It may be my new favorite bakery. ... They have both savory and sweet options and the flavors are very interesting and unique. Some of the standouts include thebeautiful savory soufflé, the bbq pork bun, the egg custard, the lemon muffin, and the snickerdoodle filled with cured egg. Icould go on and on. The lemon muffin was soft and tender, with a very subtle lemony flavor. The bbq pork bun was anunexpected surprise because we thought it just had a pineapple filling. Instead, it was chock full of bbq pork along withchunks of pineapple. The egg custard was rich and the crust was unbelievably flaky and delicious. The soufflé is almostindescribable? full of bacon and scallion. The Fat Rice restaurant is great and you can see my review of that separately, butthe Bakery at Fat Rice is just as special. I don?t know any place else in the city you can get all of this wonderful and uniqueflavors. Read more

Great bakery!!! The desserts here have such unique twists to classic Asian flavors. There is a sense of nostalgia when taking a... bite out of a salted egg filled cookie or a Vietnamese coffee but also a surprise when you find out the cookie is infused withCeylon tea and the coffee has fish sauce caramel in it! The decorations are wonderful and very inviting. A must visit in Chicago! Read more

There is such wonderful flavor in each item that we ate. We had the Sri Lanka Beef Bun, African Chicken Curry Bun, Guava Bun,... and Bolo Cake. Big flavors and very tasty! The savory buns were full of meat. The sweet ones were not overly sweet and verylight on texture. If you love bread, you will love all of the buns. I also had the milk tea; it was slightly bitter because ofthe black tea but still had a sweetness. Definitely will be back! Read more
