We go to the Walnut Room every year for Christmas. As always, it was wonderful. Their famous Pot Pie - OMG so delicious. Their... Black Current Ice Tea is awesome. As is the Walnut Room Salad. It's actually one of our favorite places to eat in Chicago. Thewaitstaff here is always very friendly. Read more

Ready for a holiday experience, one considered a Chicago tradition, we made reservations for Black Friday 2022! Yup, it was a... lot to take it. Key takeaways: Arrive with 10-15 min to spare to navigate elevators or escalators, groups of people andstrollers milling about for photos, get in the reservation wait line to cue-up for seating (if you have reservations), and sitanywhere away from the entrance! Once seated, service was efficient and the food was good. The total dining event still tookabout an hour as the staff has many people to serve and much square footage to cover. The music was light enough thatconversation was easy at the tables. The changing lights of the tree provided a festive ambience and was somewhat calming aspeople consistently gathered near the tree for photos and staff rushed about. I had the Turkey Dinner and he had the Meatloaf, both dishes filling and satisfying in taste, prepared and presented well. Dessert was the Mint Cheesecake, quality texture, anda perfect size for sharing. Overall prices were fair and generous. 2 meals, dessert, and one coffee; total bill (after tax) $48.As 40-year-olds, with no children of our own or extended family to share it with, we would still do it again. The traditions of the Walnut Room were presenat the lunch. The classic Walnut Room salad, with orange slices and almonds and the... tangy dressing was perfect. The nice slices of meat loaf were flavorful with addition of an almost sweet glaze. The mashedpotatoes without gravy was alright as the glaze from the meatloaf assisted. Along with the green beans it was a good lunch.Wouldn't be complete without the Frango mint ice cream pie. A good lunch. Yes, the Christmas Fairy showed up to grant wishes!! Read more

Beautiful setting and a wonderful pot pie lunch with a great view. We came here Christmas Eve and took a chance on trying for a... reservation and got lucky and got the last open slot. They only take reservations so make sure to plan ahead. The setting insidewith the Christmas tree is gorgeous and the atmosphere was really nice. For Christmas Eve they had people dressed as what Ibelieve are sugar plum fairies walking around asking for your Christmas wishes. The pot pie was pretty good and the prices arenot bad. This is not a Michelin star restaurant the food is decent but make sure to keep your expectations realistic. All in allfun time. Read more

Wonderful pot pie and a beautiful setting. Lunch and some shopping for Christmas is a perfect way to enjoy the Holidays. The pot... pie recipe is from 1890 and has a harder top crust than most so you have to break it and let it soften but it really worksperfectly and is delicious! Read more
