If you?re looking for great breakfast food that?s fast and affordable, this is the spot. There?s nothing fancy about it, but the... food is excellent and the staff is friendly. It?s cafeteria style so you pick up your tray and get your food through the line.Cash only but they have an ATM on site. I always get the Number 2 (two eggs, 2 sausage links, hashbrowns) with toast. It?snever steered me wrong. Definitely one of the best breakfast spots in the city. Highly recommend Read more

Ordered a steak and omlet with hash browns as well as 2 pancakes and bacon for my son. As you can tell from the picture omlet... was overcooked, steak was dry as well as the hash browns, quite bland actually. I don't know why this gets 4 stars, only thinggood about this place was the coffee And it cost 40 dollars for my son and i. So not really all that cheap either. The onlyreason it became famous was Obama went there, maybe the quality went down after they got famous, anyhow nothing special aboutthis place, bland food. By the way IT'S CASH ONLY and you have to use their ATM inside the ShOP which CHARGES you 3 DOLLARs ,which goes into their pocket again, so ADD another 3 DOLLARS to your ENTIRE CHECK!!!!!!!!! SO delicious. Reliable taste and service. Would definitely recommend. I?m not a big eggs person but the one at Valois is so good... especially with the hash browns. The hot chocolate is a little on the sweeter side. But overall the restaurant is veryreasonably priced! Read more

Wonderful greasy-spoon in the Hyde Park area. Nothing that folks haven't already said and its famous patrons have made it a top... rated must visit joint. We enjoyed Prez Obama's Favs #4, the hot chocolate, French toasts and the Turkey sandwich and all werefantastic. Prices have somehow stayed sane, even with the attention the place has gotten and parking is easily available on thestreet. Service is efficient and the tables cleared as fast as you can eat ???? I ate breakfast at Valois on Sunday morning, June 19th, 2022. The large menu offers a sizable selection of breakfast options. I... was hungry. I ordered pancakes with a generous helping of blueberries on the side, oatmeal which came with brown sugar and asmall portion of raisins on the side, hash browns, orange juice, and water. A sign on the outside of the restaurant says youcan "see your food." Indeed, I saw the person who took my order scoop my oatmeal from a huge pot into a bowl, stir my hashbrowns on the grill then plop a generous portion on a plate, and meanwhile I watched another person pour pancake batter on agrill and prepare my pancakes. I paid a third person working as cashier for my food at the counter, and the food and juice wereready quickly, almost as soon as I paid for them it seemed. After I took my seat, a waitress brought two glasses of ice water.I'm a big water drinker and appreciated getting two glasses. The food was tasty and reasonably priced. I planned to visit theMuseum of Science and Industry and took the #6 Jackson Park Express bus from downtown south to 53rd street to enjoy breakfast atValois before walking perhaps five blocks from the restaurant to the museum. I'm not sure about the calorie count or fatcontent. But their comfort food is tasty. The day I ate there perhaps about 8 a.m., most of the other patrons seemed to bepersons from the neighborhood. But my guess is that Valois attracts a diverse clientele. It offers a tasty breakfast at areasonable price with quick service and a wide variety of selections. I recommend it and hope to eat there again on a futureChicago trip. Read more

Quick, cheap service. I got the two pancake meal that cost less than $10. Eggs and sausage was hot and fresh. Pancakes were a... little crumbly. Overall great for the price. Read more

The staff is quick, the portion size is good. The food is decent. Great prices. Cash only! Note: there have been recent price... hikes not yet reflected in the online menu (not to worry though, it?s still a great deal!) The price point is the key tosuccess. Nothing there is gourmet and if you paid the going rate for this food, you might say meh, but since the price point islow, you know that you?re not going to get better for less. Hey, if it?s good enough for a president, it?s good enough for me. Read more

This place rocks! Cafeteria style breakfast. Very affordable. I got the egg white veggie omelette for $7.95 which comes with... either rice, grits, or hash browns plus you get a side of toast or their biscuit which really tastes like a sweet cake near tocorn bread. Coffee is amazing for $1.65. I wish I got a refill! Comfortable relaxed ambiance and very clean with bus boysconstantly coming around to clean and provide water as needed. The breakfast was ready in less than 5 min. Plenty of seating andno wait to get order taken at 8am on a beautiful Saturday morning. Only issue with this place could be parking, but figure thatout and come down to try this place that even Obama, Jesse Jackson, and many Chicago Police Officers (feels very safe with themin here) love.
