I typically love coming to this establishment and studying. Today we came in to get lunch and work on some school work. I asked... the worker if there were any nuts in the chicken salad I was ordering and she assured me there wasn?t, that she had made itherself. When I got my order, there were walnuts in it. I had only taken a bite and luckily not anaphylactic, but not thrilledto be sick now. When I informed them, there was no apology and when I asked if I could order something else the response was ?ifyou want?. They were kind enough to compensate the new order, but please be more cautious. I understand my own responsibilityhaving the allergy, but it goes both ways! Rented this space for my daughters birthday party and had a wonderful experience! Despite having a little scheduling mix up in... the beginning, the staff handled it wonderfully- with great poise and professionalism. Mockingbird is a wonderful gem in the NRV. The pimento cheese biscuit is wonderful! We love the monster cookies and ALL of the... gluten free goodies. The staff is friendly and helpful. Also, they made my gluten free wedding cake. It was amazing. Read more
Mockingbird is my favorite place to pick-up breakfast. They have the most amazing big bagels (they kind of remind me of warm... soft pretzels). I also love their breakfast sandwiches (my favorite is the egg and cheese on potato sourdough, and I?ll oftenget a loaf of this bread to go too). Their cinnamon rolls are delicious and giant (and vegan!). My favorite cookie is theircitrus cookie (although I?m hesitant to mention it, because they?re so popular they often run out, haha). I also love thisplace because they cater to both vegans / vegetarians and meat-eaters (that way I can make both my vegan husband and my baconloving father-in-law happy). Donna is always coming up with new veg-friendly recipes, like biscuits and gravy. Their bagel andlox is also fantastic (and a very generous portion). Mockingbird has also gone above and beyond on adapting their restaurant toCOVID. You can easily order ahead on their website, then you just show up at your selected time and pick-up your to-go bag. Ialways feel like they are doing everything they can to ensure customer safety. We often order Friday for a Saturday morningpick-up, and it?s become a small something to look forward to on weekends. Im from christiansburg and would frequently stop by their cafe because they are one of the few businesses around that offer... vegan treats! So when it come to my wedding, mockingbird was the obvious choice for my cake and cupcakes! They were veryknowledgable and friendly and my cake turned out beautifully!
